Steering Bush
Few month ago, our 2013 i30 GD started to produce knocking noise from the steering wheel.
The symptoms are
- only happens when turning the steering wheel left or right as if needing to park at stationary, or at very low speed. (under 5km/hr)
- feels like clicking/ knocking from just behind the steering wheel?

So after doing some extensive research, I thought that the rubber coupling in the electric motor is the problem.
Got the part and replaced via local mechanic.. His advised that the original coupling did not have any damage when he opened it up.
Therefore, still the same symptom.

Was than advised that the next logical step is to replace the lower joint assy universal shaft..
This was...

Gearbox
Hi all,
I want to discuss issues with my DCT transmission of 2016 i30 1.6 CRDi premium and would like any thoughts from you guys. I purchased my i30 brand new in January 2017. At the odometer reading of about 118000 KM, issues started with transmission and being in warranty at that time dealership changed the clutch plate free of cost. Now at the mileage of about 180000 KM, transmission start showing problem again as car vibrates when accelerated from stationery position.  As the five years warranty of a vehicle already expired in the year 2021, therefore I have to pay for all the repairs costs this time. Dealership suggested replacement of double clutch set with flywheel rattling issues and quoted for $ 5320 to replace. I am highly di...

Headlight
Hi,
New owner of a Hyundai i30 in NZ.
The headlights never seem to turn off, unless the car is turned off. Even on the ‘off’ position headlights are turned on. Just bought it at an auction at a local dealership.
Is there something I’m doing wrong? Or do I need to get in touch with a mechanic?
Thanks

Headlight
I've noticed that my high beam is occasionally coming on without me selecting it.

2 different instances,

1. When using indicators sometimes high beam flashes on momentarily.
2. Occasionally when driving with lights on the same happens.

Any ideas for a fix?

Door Mirror
Hi everyone,

I recently had an issue with my right wing mirror motor running constantly. I came on here to find advice but couldn't see any quick, temporary fixes so I wanted to share my temporary work around solution, that doesn't involve cutting wires or anything.

There is a fuse in the driver side fuse compartment labelled MEMORY2. Taking that fuse out stopped the wing mirror motor from running constantly until I could get the car to the mechanic.

This fuse does affect other things as well. For example, I can't open/lock the car using the smart key. I have to manually open/lock the doors. That's something to keep in mind.

Just a simple, temporary work around. I hope this helps someone.

Suspension Springs
I30 August 2010 60000 miles. Suspension uncomfortable over rough roads particularly with potholes. Shocks and springs replaced with Sachs components. Wheel bearings fine and suspension bushes etc. checked by garage and found to be ok. Suspension better but not ideal. Any ideas as to what may be wrong?

Wipers
Rear wiper stopped working on my 2011 Touring 2.0L Petrol MT

1. I changed the motor to a certified refurbished unit, it didn't fix the issue.
2. I changed the relay on the left side in the rear (part  952252d500-ds) - still no dice.

When I turn on the switch to activate the wiper, the relay clicks a few times, pauses, and clicks a few times... but the motor never activated.

I don't want to throw any more money at parts without better insight.

Would appreciate your help.

Testimonials
Well, have clicked over the 100,000 mile mark in our late 2018 SR manual. No major problems so far - collapsed bearing in the steering box fixed on warranty - a known issue apparently.
Like our FD CW diesel, need to keep up with rear wheel toe in - if you don't keep an eye on it, the inside edges of the rear tyres wear through to the steel, even though the outer looks ok. Space saver tyres are crap, espec. with 160 km to a tyre bay. Have run Continentals and Bridgestones, but must try the Michelins next - the Bridgestone RE s were good
Generally, a comfortable good handling car - a bit slow off the mark, but good open road/ back road tourer with good mid range urge when passing. On 2/3rd country, 1/3rd city driving, fuel economy ...

Oil
Hello, I have a Hyundai I30 1.4 petrol FD from 2011. The engine is G4FA 109 HP.

I need new o-rings in the timing cover for the oil pump. I can't find them, and also no information about the size. There are 2 o-rings for sealing the oil pump. Does anybody know the diameter and thickness of these o-rings?

Thanks in advance, best regards, Toon
