Hi All,

New i30 SR owner here. Picked it up last week and absolutely loving it. We live semi-rural and my other half does regular night shift that involves occasional highway driving at night so I'm looking to get driving lights installed.

Has anyone successfully installed an LED light bar on top of or below the front licence plate? I have had a bit of a dig around online but haven't been able to find any info. Any help appreciated  :)

Hi again Tusk,

You are going to have to mount it under the number plate because above will interfere with the radar sensor behind the front Hyundai emblem.

Thanks for the info, that is something I wouldn't have thought of. I don't want anything huge in terms of a light bar but I might take it somewhere and see how easy someone can hook one up.

Esteemed Member/moderator @The Gonz has installed a lightbar on the front of his series 1 i30. He might like to comment and provide a link to that thread.  :D

Cheers Gonz. I thought I had seen a picture somewhere!  :victory:

For some reason I thought you had inverted the nudge bar and mounted the light bar under the number plate. :crazy1:

Hi All,

Just a quick update on this thread. I finally got around to installing a light bar on to my i30 SR. I had it wired by an auto electrician as I wasn't confident that I could do it myself. He placed switch for it on the panel under the start button.
I have successfully mounted the light bar above the number plate without affecting the radar sensor, at least based on a few quick drives with it fitted. This is the model I have fitted:

I didn't have a chance to take pictures but I'll post these later on as my wife has the car today.

That's interesting it hasn't effected the radar performance. Are you happy with the improvement in illumination?

Look forward to the photos.

Here are the photos.
It's 14 inches in size but looks quite discreet and I think it suits the car really well and is 6000 lumens (12x5w). It has the same light output as a typical single row 20-22 inch light bar.

I haven't done a huge amount of driving with it fitted but so far AEB hasn't complained and radar cruise worked in the few minutes I was able to use it. If it gives me any trouble, I'll just mount it under the number plate.

Edit: Really happy with the performance too. Really makes the standard high beams look horrible now!
