True. They are nice when they work, but when something goes wrong...
Those systems should be an option for those who want it. Not like in Mercedes, where in wagons you had airmatic air suspension as a standard in the rear axel. And even in the old 124 series where you had self leveling hydraulic suspension. Parts are expensive and usually not so reliable. I've seen several modern mercs in the parking lots with one or both rear sides slammed to the ground. And fixing that with oem parts is expensive. Luckily there are now better third party parts, but for those who are not so in to cars and do not know what to look for, it's expensive to fix.
Citroen used to have that hydraulic suspension in their cars. Are they still using that? One guy told that in the old C5 it was really good. You were able to rise the car when driving in heavy snow so you did not get stuck so easily. Also it absorbed the bumbs really good and the ride was really smooth. On the down side he meantioned that the "feel" of the car was really bad. Like you could not feel how the road surface was or what the car was actually doing.
