Hi, Has anyone with a 2017/18 I30 tourer experienced any issues with the brakes not releasing when trying to set off in reverse on an incline?
The brake warning light goes out from the dashboard but the brakes are not released.....
I rejected my 1st I30 over this fault, and now the replacement vehicle is displaying the same reluctance to release the brakes when required, its an intermittent fault any ideas guys?

Hi and welcome,

To help try to identify a cause and possible action can you provide details to following:

Is it manual or auto car?

How steep is the slope?

Does it happen on all slopes no matter how steep they are?

Does it do it if you go forward up the slope?

Is it manual or auto brake system?

There may be other questions to ask you once the techies see this thread so they can help.

If you're on an incline, there's a small possibility that the Hill Assist Control (HAC) is holding your vehicle in place. Do the brakes release when you hit the loud pedal?

:welcome: It is odd that they let you just reject your first vehicle for doing that one fault!

Normally the problem would just be identified, rectified and then they send you on your way. So it is the latest PD (new shape) wagon? We aren't getting them in Australia at this stage for various reasons including exchange rates.

My PD SR hatch should have the same braking setup though and I can't recall having this issue.  :undecided:

So the brakes just stay and the car won't move when you hit the go pedal?

I doubt it would be auto brake, as it needs to be hit every time you start the car (unless the European made wagon is different, which is possible)

Hi
It’s a manual gearbox
The slope can be any thing from slight nose down to steep
It only occurs if I select reverse gear initially but if you then try to select first you still don’t get the brakes released.

It’s an intermittent fault, and the auto hold on the brake doesn’t seem to effect it.
