My FD has a rattle in the driver side dashboard that drives me crazy. Sounds like a loose bolt rolling on a plastic surface. It comes and goes randomly when the car is warm or slightly turning right. Been tracing it down for a while but still no luck. Anyone has any idea about this matter, please?

Just trying visualise, thinking perhaps some loose part of the looming, especially if you hear it in a certain turn direction and when warmer. Get your hand behind the dash under the steering column and see what might feel.

Does it go away if you lightly push on the glass of the windshield?

Yes I tried but it’s still there. Will add another video when I have a chance. It’s hard to catch that as it comes occasionally

I may be biased by experience with dash refits, but it sounds like the edge of the dash pad working against the windscreen. There is a foam rubber strip that can slip down, esp if you have had a new screen fitted.

If that seems logical, try spraying some silicone lube along that edge. You will find it at Superchap etc.

Have you checked the windscreen gutter on the outside?  Your description reminds me of a similar situation a while back and finally found the culprit was some bits of debris sliding around on the outside.

Update here:
Finally I’ve solved the problem. It took me lots of tests to figure it out. The rattle was coming from the cowl where it touches the main car frame. There was a foam seal running around the cowl and due to the age of the car, that was worn out. Temporary solution is to add more foam tape where necessary, but I will redo the seal when I have time.

Excellent news and thanks for the positive feedback.

Litle things like that could prove invaluable to others who may experience the same issue :goodjob:

You really want some rubber on the clips where the windscreen inserts too, just on the very clips not the whole length
