In the past  when my tyres needed replacing I have ended up with an unused spare and to save having  odd tyres I have bought the same make as the spare. Curious to know when having tyres rotated should the spare be used. I notice many dealers rotate the wheels without incorporating the spare.  Would like to change the original Hancock tyres but like Dazz will only do this once they are worn or out of date.

Everyone has an "opinion"
Most will vary. There are lots of options on line.
Google 5 wheel rotation front wheel drive.

In my opinion, LF works hardest so if the spare is coming into service for the first time, fit it to LF.

Both fronts diagonally to rear, which puts the hardest worked tyre  into an easy service area.
LR to RF
RR to spare.
But. And there's a big BUT, if there is any uneven tyre wear,, this can screw the sequence. It can also cause the car to pull.

I have 2 favourites for front wheel drives.
Both assume no excessively uneven tyre wear.
The first is to just use the spare as a front and keep swapping the three of them around. Leave the rears alone. Given the heavier tyre wear on the front,  you'll go close to wearing them all out together.
The second option is to just leave the spare alone and buy only four new tyres. Unless you're keeping the car for 10 years or more, the spare will be perfectly serviceable. Just remember to keep the pressure up to it.

Thank you , good information. Did go on google and found conflicting reports. Will probably use your idea of leaving the spare in the boot and replacing others when worn. I guess if I  change to a different make tyre and get a puncture it won't hurt using the Hancock to get me out of trouble.    :goodjob2:

I've heard of hand eye coordination, but not that.
