Hi
The entire Sat Nav, Radio, CD, Media, Reverse Camera  suddenly stopped working. While driving (on freeway), an error message flashed 'battery low, turn on engine'.
Then entire Sat Nav, Radio, CD, Media died completely.
It's 1 week over 5 year warranty!
Any suggestions of what it might be?
Does Hyundai ever cover stuff just outside 5 year period???
Is entire Sat Nav, Radio, CD, Media, Reverse Camera covered under 5 year warranty anyway?

The drivers side mirror is also sporadically not flipping out, when I unlock car
Thanks

Sounds like it might be something more than just a stereo issue :undecided: Hyundai have usually been good with honouring just out of warranty claims though I think the stereo/media unit is only covered for 3 years...don't quote me on it though so make an appointment with them as soon as possible.

Do you usually use hy dealer to have service done?

If so then the dealer may fight your corner as a valued customer.

Hi
Thanks for those suggestions. I took to Hyundai. They did service update, still dead.
They quoted $1300 to replace motrex unit ($1250 part, $50 labour)
I asked them to lodge request with Hyundai for out of warranty replacement, but as it's 3 years on it (not 5 year as I thought) I doubt it.
Car has done 67,000. I purchased it second hand when 28,000k & has been serviced by Huyndai since then.
Any suggestions on whether it would be bad idea to look for s/h replacement unit...
It's that or have no sat nav, audio, reversing camera etc for a long time. I don't have $1300...
Thanks
Ruth

The obvious solution is to go see your local, friendly, reasonably priced wrecker.
Fit it yourself. Easy DIY exercise.

Hi
Thanks, have located compatible unit at wreckers from 2016 i30 with 16,000 kms, so hopefully it will last for a couple of years?
Any hints on how to remove dead unit & install new one???
I don't know anything about how to do it.
Thanks

If you can get it cheap enough and you are not skilled at DIY i would be getting a quote from a local audio place or auto electrician . Might also be worth getting a quote to supply and fit  a brand new basic after market unit as a comparison.

For free VTH gives very detailed instructions on how to remove the unit, quite simple :)

Thanks Craig, I hadnt seen that thread.

It may look very complicated for 5mile but he can read on and find how to just remove trim and do a swap.

Incidentally he said " at wreckers from 2016 i30 with 16,000 kms, so hopefully it will last for a couple of years?"
Kms done or servicing has no bearing on the life of the radio.

I think "he" may be a she.  :undecided:

Hopefully the fact it is only a couple of years old may help with longevity?

Hi All
Thanks for the replies & link to how to swop unit. In end i woosed out of DYI & paid local auto electrican $50 to do.
Unit turned on, worked 100% & then when car was restarted, head unit wouldn't turn on.
It could be faulty unit from wrecker?
Or given original error message 'battery low, turn on engine' while freeway driving auto electrician thought bad connection  to head unit was more likely..
Hyundai said they checked fuse & feed wire & constant power wire to unit.
Auto electrician said if I had wiring diagrams that would reduce his time in tracing supplies & testing head unit. Any ideas where I might access wiring diagrams???
Thanks for all your help so far
Cheers
