Title: Window switch gone again
Post by: CraigB on October 22, 2018, 08:33:45
I've had the master drivers door switch for the passenger window go on me again for the second time :disapp: so took the car into Hyundai this afternoon for the lovely Chantel to take her photos of the switch and service booklet, here's hoping they can pressure Hyundai for a goodwill warranty replacement as it's three months out of cover now :Prayer:

If I knew I wouldn't get caught I would have :sweating: there were moments where I could have taken advantage of a hot chic bending over leaning into my car :snigger:

How old was the first switch, and how old is this one?

How old was the first switch, and how old is this one?
Two years for the first one to go and three for this one.

Not exactly a fantastic lifespan. One of their weaknesses I think. Plastics and switch gear. I've had to swap out a couple of switches out on mine but they're a bit older and more Ks than yours I would think.

Only 63500 km's on mine so far, what's strange is that the passenger window is very rarely used  I've never had a window switch go on any of my other vehicles in the past.

Chrome isn't one of Hyundai's strengths either, had the chrome on the grill peel away once before and I've seen others with complaints about door handle chrome peeling away, thankfully I don't have chrome handles :)

I think they're different plastic too. In FD I've had peeling and handles fall apart for the chrome. Black handles seem to be more durable

Yeah the handles on mine would be similar to the black one's, except they're silver and quite solid in their construction.

After a re-read, if it's hardly been used could be dirty contacts. I've had similar situation with both rears going dead at the doors.  Virtually never get used, got them back to life with repeated jiggling of the switch although I think removal and some contact cleaner would be a better job.

Never pulled one down to do a proper analysis though.

Jiggling the switch usually did the trick over the last few weeks since the problem started but now its stopped working altogether, only works down and not up.

Maybe Chantel want to see you again without knowing how to say it, hence giving you dodgy window switch :)

Regarding to taking photo, If you worry getting caught taking pics, well I do not mind pic taken from the rear while she bending over your car to verify the switch.

Im an easy kindda guy

 :snigger: :goodjob2: unfortunately the last switch wasn't ordered/fitted through this branch though she did remember when I was last there for servicing :whistler: and she made me a great coffee :D

I've misspelt Chantelle's name as well as I've just realised after her recent SMS :)

Here is discusion about switches, so I will use this topic to resolve my little enigma
My window switches are illuminated blue in dark, but mirror switches and button for locking rear windows don't. Is this normal or something is blown?

It's normal.

Neither my i30 2014 GD2 nor my current Ioniq have those controls illuminated.
