Hi folks,
My High and dry i30 had for years has been struggling to get into gear, after looking on good old YouTube I found a fix. I removed the dampener from the master cylinder and guess what ...it's worked, sump plugged now where dampener used to be.  But the retaining clip doesn't seem to be holding so once the hydrolic  pressure builds up the thing pops apart, I've temporary put a zip tie on to hold together, just to get me to a garage if I need to.
I was wondering if anyone could offer advice as to what I've done wrong and point me in the right direction to fix it rather than take to garage. Tia

you can see that retaining clip has not locked in or is bent on the firewall side so it will just blow off under pressure.

maybe the mating surface has been damaged but only you will be able to tell.

Example image only, not actual part number fitted

Pin looks ok but I suppose it could be damaged, although it does look ok. Is that a pic of the part number by any chance, might just buy a new one 👍

Thanks for reply

Is it seated correctly, try  twisting and push. Pretty simple design. That clip must lock across a ridge or fall in a keyway.

I don't know what it slots into but if it's plastic maybe the ridge is damaged, I'd remove it and have a closer look.

Gerard has only used the picture as an example. It does say not necessarily correct part number...

Thanks, I’ve checked and re-checked but clip only seems to go in one way (the way I removed it)...if I can locate the part, hardy than it should be to locate lol I’ll replace the whole thing.
I’ve read that it’s also called a clutch regulator, who’d a thought 🤪

yeah, but which part are you replacing? which part is damaged? the master cylinder end or the damper end? They are individual components from what I see
