Title: Optional Extras? What did you go for?
Post by: Jonesy_ on June 03, 2018, 06:59:33
Hi all,

My name is Jonesy and tomorrow I will be making a call regarding a PD SR with sunroof (Manual) and was wondering what options to consider given that Hyundai currently have $500 worth of free accessories.

Quite torn about what to get as I was regarding what car to buy. The Mrs convinced me to find an interim car until I make up my mind on a big boy car  any who I took an i30 SR premium for a drive and thought it was great! I was very surprised at how solid it felt on the road and found the steering to be weighted very nicely. The DCT is impressive but had mixed feelings about opting for an auto.

I have been quoted 28k drive away for an SR manual in any colour with a sunroof which I think is pretty red hot. Just can't decide on extras, should i just have have it taken off the price? I am thinking the scuff plates and interior lighting given that you can buy dash mats etc from any decent auto shop..

Keen to hear your opinions and what you opted for.

Looking forward to posting some more, it seems like a great community in here.

Welcome Jonesy

Probably just get it off the price.

You'll probably want tinting which is around $500 via  the dealer but only around $300 direct from the tinting places.

Scuff plates are available now are they? I might have to get some of those.

I've changed Interior globes to LED (cheap as chips) but haven't got the footwell lighting. A boot liner is a good thing. Stylevisors (slimline weathershields) look good. But if you get them thrown in they will charge them out at retail whereas most accessories are available on Ebay at trade price.

28K is excellent for manual with sunroof. I paid 31K for SR DCT without sunroof. I would have liked the manual but wanted the Auto Cruise (awesome  ) and a few other features the manual doesn't get.

Go the white or the Phoenix Orange!  :D THe white in particular looks great with a black roof and the Phoenix Orange really pops!

Good luck with it .. keep in touch.

Cheers mate for the feedback.  I really do like the white with the sunroof,  also the Sparkling Metal  I think it's called (grey)  gives it a very European vibe and will lovably be the colour I go for.

One condition I will put forward is a full size alloy spare.

There's a Brisbane based member thinking about selling some full size brand new SR Alloys for $150 each. I'd grab one if I was closer.

:link: Full size spare - Brand new SR rims for sale (https://www.i30ownersclub.com/forum/index.php?topic=49904.0)

They probably retail for $600+ each so might be a sticking point getting one thrown in!

True, I did here in an update that Hyundai may now include a full size spare given the floor height is adjustable.

In view of the fact punctures are now fairly rare, I am happy for the extra boot space (I've lowered my floor) and I bought some repair gunk for an emergency. With the space saver and "gunk" I reckon I'm covered. We do a lot of road trips so the extra 40 odd litres of boot space means a lot to us.

I would go white but thats just me....:D

I went the SR Premium for all the extra features you get, plus i got a really good dal (31k driveaway with 49km on it).
I quite like the dual clutch box

Hey @Dazzler yeah mate,  went for an SR manual with sunroof,  lighting kit and scuff plates,  didn't worry about the spare as I will not be doing many trips out of town and would rather the boot space.  2 weeks delivery at this stage but we all know that could change haha oh and in Sparkling metal...

Awesome mate! Thanks for responding. I don't normally go for the metallic greys but from what I've seen that colour really sets off the lines of the PD. The manual works out great value too. I must try and get a drive of a manual. They are proving to be popular.

@andrich it was a hard decision between the White and Metal.  It looks super clean in white,  I feel the Metal gives it a little euro feel and will look good with the dark accents of the wheels and sunroof.  I was a fan of the DCT when I test drove it and love the extra kit but I like being able to throw my own cogs. I'll grab some snaps up on Skyline to since I live around the corner 😂

@Dazzler I think it was a good deal, a little cheaper than what I've seen on car sales and hard to find a manual with a sunroof so given that it was the dealer quote from factory it was hard to say no.  I've also ordered some plates for it too 👊can't wait to see how I fit in to the KDM life haha

I can definitely understand going grey they do look good, and like you say with the black accents it sets it off.
I am usually the same with regards to the gearbox. With a premium i had no choice as its DCT only but i guess you cant go wrong with either box.
Haha oh do ya,  i bought mine from Orange so drove back home through bathurst so thought i might aswell do a lap. I noticed an undercover copper on my kap around which isnt unusual so it was a sedate lap
cheers

By all accounts it's the best DCT on the market at this price point. Enjoy.

We've been quoted $30k on road for a manual SR with tinted windows, mats and bonnet protector, in Blue.....oh, and 3 months wait for delivery. They did up the trade in price another $3k to swing the deal though...

Welcome to the SR fold.  :goodjob:

They would want to have given you 3K extra for your trade as 30K is nearly 3K over the mark for a manual which should be atleast 3k below the equivalent DCT (in view of the missing tech and automated trans assembly)

I recently picked up a SR Prem in Sparkling Metal.

I went for:

After looking at it, I wished I'd gone for the smoke/tinted bonnet protector - so I picked one of those up on Ebay ($80 with an Ebay discount) which I've now received but haven't put on yet.

I really like the Sparkling Metal colour... and I think the bonnet protector will go well with the black roof.

Thanks for all the replies.  I've had a look on eBay too and will grab some extras too I think.  And will get an after market tint done.  Pretty happy with the price too but I wish we could be like the states and get optional extras like LED jeadlights lights and other premo only features etc with a manual transmission which you can have all the fruit.  Different market I guess...

For anyone after PD scuff plates, I got this reply from a parts dealer:

they are still on backorder
hopefully will have stock in the next 3-4 weeks
there is 10 on the dock in customs, but there is 31 customer backorders that will get fulfilled first
HMCA have 240 in transit so stock will free up soon
check back with me in about 3 weeks

Hmmm wonder if one of those is mine haha they said 2 weeks but never is?? Maybe I could wrangle a premo for the same price if it doesn't show up 😂

Cheers for that. Out of interest I noticed the N only got metal N scuff plates on the front kick panels.

I nearly ordered some FD or GD ones. I imagine they would all be roughly the same.  :undecided:

I got floor mats and a sunroof on a non-premium sr.

Couldn’t justify the extra cost for the premium. Only thing I would have liked is the led headlights but whatever...

Ended up with white but blue is also nice. The only thing that annoys me about white is that the boot is visible between the black rear spoiler and the black roof. The strip of white (or whatever colour the car is) should’ve been made black.

Yeah, I don't know why they did that. It's obviously the same on all colours, but more obvious on the white.

An easy and cheap fix is use a bit of Gloss Vinyl wrap on that small section...

Just a quick update,  my car is on the boat and should make port around the 24th of this month.  It's getting drawn out and I just want to drive it!  😂

No fun waiting, we've all had the joy of that at some stage. My first i30 in 2008 took 3 months! I'm not good at waiting!  :crazy1:
