Hi, thanks in advance for your help.
I was wondering if a Petrol and Diesel Radiator (and attached fan) would be interchangable.

I had the unfortunate mishap that I hit a kangaroo 2 weeks ago and, even while it only hit me (yes, it jumped back when I tried to avoid it) at 30km/h, it managed to put a too big dent in my bonnet, smash the middle of the bumper and fold the radiator inwards. It doesn't leak and it's only the middle part that's folded, but the fan housing has a crack in it as well, although the fan still works fine.

I'm visiting a (self-help) car yard this Saturday and they have 4 i30's available (even in my color!), all with the front intact.

My car is a 2009 i30 CW Diesel and the ones they have range are 2009/2010 and 2012. Bumper and Bonnet wont be a problem. Radiator, I'm not sure of. I've tried to google, but with no outcome. Pictures of radiators all look the same to me. They come up with different fans (for diesel or petrol engine), but they still look the same to me (I'm no mechanic though).

A new radiator/fan isn't that expensive, but the second hand one is extremely cheap and since I will be taking the car appart for most of it, I thought why not.

Any help would be appreciated!

So what are you saying? they have 4 i30s but all petrol? Are you just looking at CW or all FD i30?

Front end is all the same except the guards on the CW have no side blinkers

mechanically they are the same, just have to check AUTO and manual radiators if they're the same but you could use the AUTO one just won't have the trans fluid lines connected on the side where the oil cooler is.

Manual Diesel radiator

253102L600

No oil lines on the left

Auto diesel

253102L650

note the oil lines on the left

Forget about Petrol radiator, completely different setup especially the overflow tank and radiator cap!

What are you doing about the Aircon Condensor in the front of the radiator?

The fan blade is across the range FAN - COOLING [252312H000]

The motor is not, Diesel not the same as petrol

The shroud as you'd expect is different

SHROUD - RADIATOR [253502H600] diesel

Yes, 4 i30's are all petrol & automatic. So, radiator wont be any good. And, haven't thought about the aircon, which is the part that's bent in (I thought it was the radiator).
Am I'm assuming correctly that the fan as the same on petrol and diesel?

Fan blade yes, whole assembly no so if you just need the blades it'll be ok but I bet they won't sell just that, you may as well track a diesel down.

CONDENSER ASSY - COOLER [976062L600] diesel

again the condenser for diesel is not the same as petrol.

If the aircon no longer cools the gas has likely leaked out but otherwise you need a licenced operator to evacuate the refrigerant, be very careful if you decide to take the risk of uncoupling any part of the AC, you don't want that hitting the skin, frostbite / refrigerant burns .

He' been working into the dark hours again  :judges:

The diesel radiator isn't as wide as the petrol because we need space for the intercooler.
