It's finally happened.

The much-heralded "world's highest and longest" glass-bottomed bridge has opened to visitors in central China.

It connects two mountain cliffs in what are known as the Avatar mountains (the film was shot here) in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province.

There is no way I could walk across that.  I had fit of the vapours when I visited the Calgary tower a few years ago and saw the glass floor around the viewing platform. 

To add to my woes in another USA/Canada visit we got into a lift in the lobby of a skyscraper in San Francisco. After a few floors the lift suddenly emerged through the roof and it was running up the outside of the building. If that wasn't bad enough, when I looked down we were standing on a rather scratched glass floor.............

I'm not bad with heights unless I'm standing on a slippery angled roof, but still a bit nervous about the durability of some things made in China.

I used to be OK with heights but the older I get the less Ok I become.
