Yesterday and today we held a conference of all OCs and COs of our FEG and I was told yesterday lunchtime that I'd have to present today. Therefore, as a cyclist, I had just enough time to grab the Service vehicle and drive home to retrieve my formal uniform (see avatar minus the sword) and drive it back for overnight storage in one of my lockers, planning a earlier start for this morning to cycle in, have a shower, change and join in meeting all the new personnel from around Australia at the BBQ breakfast. So what happens? A dirty great rusty nail stabs through my rear tube and I end up walking the bike to work! Fortunately, I had given myself enough time and all was good, met all expectations, booked the car again and fetched my tube repair kit and pump from home, dragged the rear wheel into the office and entertained the staff with my manual dexterity (and a little glue sniffing). The ride home was back to standard performance.
Bold/optimistic move riding without a spare tube and levers. Glad it all worked out OK in the end.
