Our son, Cameron competed in the Brissie to the Bay ride, raising funds for MS.
If this works, this is his Strava summary.

:link: Relive 'Brissie to the Bay 100km'

And this is an incident which involved several of his workmates. He was ahead of them at the time. The course was marked out by comes as you can see and drivers are meant to give way to bikes. Apparently there were some expensive bikes in this pile up. Thousands of dollars damage.

Out today but just a shortish ride around Ormskirk and Burscough.

Only 4 photo's today.
Looking towards the "backbone" of England, the Pennines.

The high point in the 4th photo is the Winter Hill transmission mast

@Lakes
What sort of speeds and power/watts are they up to in Australia now John? A friend of mine imported both his Stealth bikes from the US due to our low speed restrictions, it's an absolute beast too :link: B-52 Stealth Bomber Electric Mountain Bike

hi Craig, I don't really check what speed it does now ( under electric power ) as this bike is so smooth, it disengages engine at I think 24kph, then the rider is the power source . very hard to explain , but some of the electric mountain bikes, feel like it. these bikes feel and handle like a normal all peddle bike. we don't want a surge of power, unless we peddle harder. it comes with an App for both Apple & Android. I sometimes only set 5% of engine assistance on eco, then 40% trail & 80% turbo  & I rarely use turbo only to get me out of trouble like when in too higher gear and a jump or a steep hill comes up. it's legal & covered by a two year factory warranty. but if you try to turn speed limit up you loose warranty. in USA same bike has a higher speed. if the Americans get wrong software and there bike cuts out to the speed euro & Aus are limited too they cry.
I don't know what the power is but it goes fast enough. we get up to 80kph on some down hill's as a guy on normal pushy we ride with has a computer. and checked.
there is a guy in town has a few electric bikes he ask's how much power mine has how fast, he claims his best bike can out excellerate an R1 Yamaha. but did not say for how far, as the R1 get to around 180kph in 1/8th mile and takes about 6 seconds. as I have drag raced heaps of them and see what they can do via time ticket. and you could not control an electric pushy at that speed.

just checked the link, guy I spoke about has a bike similar to that, but he rides on his own, he could not handle the tracks we ride on and the group I ride with would not let us ride a bike like that. we are all insured. also we travel away to other states a few times a year.

I hadn't seen that before.  Thanks John, very clever thinking. Imagine it would be expensive though.

Trev, my thanks to Cameron for participating in the MS Ride. Glad everyone is OK.

That's exactly the reason I won't do them anymore.

The Rossin is now back on the road. I've put the blog link below again since everything is there. It's come up better than I hoped and I put close to 300km on it the first week I got it back. Utterly different to ride from a carbon bike and I'm not sure whats been forgotten about making bikes in the intervening decades, but its a shame they don't make them like this any more. Most bikes have a Shimano drivetrain which is Hyundai-like in operation which is to suggest works as expected and utterly reliable. I have fitted a Campagnolo drivetrain and its thoroughly Italian. Feels mechanical, wants to argue with you sometimes and operates on its own terms. Anyone who has ever owned an Alfa Romeo knows what I mean.

But its exactly the right thing for this bike. Its an experience every time I take it out - in a good way. And those wheels... oh my. Fast, fast, fast. Built for smiles this bike and glad to have it back after all this time.

The riding has been curtailed somewhat by a long running community service project this year. I've become an organiser of the Lion's Moreton Bay 100 Charity Bike Ride, which raises funds for emergency youth accommodation.

It's been a lot of work for this worthwhile cause. I've put the website together and convening the social marketing and promotion. I've moved on now to live promotion where's Wally style, riding about the place, meeting people and talking about the event which has been also a huge amount of fun. I've been appearing all over facebook Romsey Quint's style as well. You might need to look that up.  :whistler:

Out again today, 3rd ride this week, to meet up with my pal from Crewe.

Today the weather forecast was heavy rain and thunderstorms but looking at the forecast for the area I was going to visit was clear. So off I went.
Brill day NO rain but dull/cooler with the odd glimpse of sun.

So off i went to Northwich to bike along the Mersey Trent canal to Middlewich.
Then along the Shropshire Union Wardle Branch to join the back roads to Winsford.
Back to Northwich along the River Weaver...

Had a 4/5 mile detour on the Wardle branch due to the canal being closed due to the bank collapsing in March, see pictures.

Enjoy

Quite a journey that restoration but well worth it. I'm pretty sure that once carbon became the next big thing, a lot of these beautiful hand crafted bikes ended up in skips.

I suspect they intend it for racing which means there's going to be weight considerations to manage. For the rest of us, the chain works well enough. You can even get belt driven bikes which has appeal from a maintenance perspective. And if you use a belt drive with internal gears, happy days indeed. Perfect for town bikes.

I'm sure the above is correct.

A classic Romsey Quints story.
It even includes a Jaguar for you, Dazz.
