Title: Acceleration problems (intermittent)
Post by: KLADI on December 30, 2022, 08:11:28
Hi, I have a Hyundai i30 2022 with the 1 litre turbo petrol engine. It's currently done 15,000 miles. Eversince new I have had an intermittent problem when I ask the car to respond to exceleration. The engine seems to splutter and cough and eventually gives the required power, after this the engine will then sound like it's "missing" and will not run properly and I am reduced to very low power. This problem will last for the remainder of my journey and eventually self clears. I have taken it into my local dealer but they say nothing shows up on the diagnostic machine so they can't identify the problem.
I never use supermarket fuel and the car is up to date with its servicing.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have any ideas.
Thank you

I have the same engine as you, but not your symptoms.
Is the problem just from cold or all the time?
Has the dealer witnessed the problem with you? If problem only occurs from cold, then you may need to leave the car overnight with them.
If you have had this since new, I would be constantly perstering the dealer as it is a fault under warranty. If no joy, try another dealer or write a compalint to Hyundai.

Thank you very much for your reply, it's usually when the engine is warm, mid journey. It feels like a problem with the turbo, but I honestly know very little about engines.

If it sounds like it is missing, then I would suspect an electrical problem, maybe plugs or a coil or bad contact/connection.
I would not particularly suspect the turbo at that mileage, unless it is making noises.
Can you get someone as passenger to video or record sound when problem occurs.
You can then take that to the dealer as evidence and maybe show clip here on the forum so we understand better.
