Hi, this is my first post here and it's about a small problem I've made.

I was trying to replace the ignition coils on my i30CW 2011 1.6 93kW engine and managed to break the screw hole so I can not secure the coil any longer. Is there anything I could do except to buy a 100€+ cover from somewhere?

Mine's Diesel and I think yours is petrol so I'm having trouble relating to how a healthy post would look in that picture. Is there value in just using the holes to insert a thinner bolt and nut with washers to sandwich the whole thing back into shape?

OK, I just watched a video on coil removal. You say you might have to buy a new cover that hosts that post. If so, that suggests you can remove it and perhaps drill through the bottom to accommodate the above suggestion.

I am not sure what are you suggesting? I doubt the coil cover will press hard enough on them for the coils not to move around.

OK, so what I'm suggesting, short of buying another cover, is that you

1. remove the damaged cover
2. grind/sand the broken post flat
3. insert a resonably flat or countersunk headed bolt with a large flat washer from below the hole
4. use the bolt as the new post, adding washers and a nut from above as needed
