Hi

Heading off on a 2,000 km trip next month and getting things ready.

1) Have purchased a Brassmonkey's fridge for the trip.  It is rated at 60W.  Can I run this safely on the front cigarette lighter sockets?

The fuse for the sockets is rated at 15A, so the fuse should be good.  More concerned about the size of the wiring.  If Hyundai has saved weight and money by putting in less copper/smaller wire, will it handle the 5A current of a 30% to 50% duty cycle fridge.

2) Those fuses look very small.  What are they called, so I can get a few spares?  How do you take them out?  Is there a tool?

In our FD the fuse puller was in the other fuse box in the engine bay.  I bought another as I could forsee having to pull a cabin fuse, and not wanting to get the tool out of the engine compartment.

Here's a fuse puller you can print for yourself...

Thank you for your replies.

I sat down and read the owner's manual , cigarette lighter sockets are rated at 10 amps.

Don't let the fridge flatten your battery when engine is off, or you will need more than a cold beer.

At perfect efficiencies, you might pull 5 amperes, realistically perhaps 6 or 7.
