Hi Everyone
I got a 2018 i30 SR Premium PD2. I Just want to ask fellow i30 PD owners. Are any of you guys having issues sustaining a DAB radio
signal on your radios? I've only taken noticed now, As I've always used spotify since taking ownership of the car. It can't seem to sustain a stable DAB signal while I'm listening, it just keeps cutting of, FM works perfectly fine tho.
I've done a re scan multiple times already. I've checked the DAB coverage in my area and it should be fairly good. But it cuts of regardless where I am, on the free way near the city etc.. I don't know if its an issue with the stations but I find it odd, because it happens everywhere.
Please watch the two examples below

Public links to the YouTube videos would be better as we don't have access to your account.

In Perth on a PD 1 Elite the DAB reception is spotless if that helps. Goes out of metro for quite a distance too. I would say something is wrong with your DAB tuner. Can you get hold of an other PD to check reception in the same spots?

I guess I can try park it next to one of the PD's on the lot near the dealer and try.

mine is terrible, works great in brisbane CBD but once you move out it drops in and out badly.

That's probably more the nature of digital transmission rather than the radio's fault.
Digital broadcasting either works or else it don't, there's nothing in between.

Yeah I know, friends car (not a Hyundai) with DAB is fine which leads me to believe the DAB receiver in mine is utter crap but thats ok as I mostly bluetooth raqdio from my phone anyways.

I'm in Perth as well & live in Mandurah. About 70ks south of Perth. And DAB works without any problems.
Only problem I have is with the volume difference between DAB & FM. FM I can have the volume on 10. For DAB to be the same it's on 25..

That would be unnecessarily annoying. With digital signal processing, if you have the quality already, amplification at the receiver is all that's needed, having nothing to do with the digital demodulation process. Consider adding a modest inline amp if possible.

My receiver regularly shifts between DAB and FM for the same station (they're preset at 1 and 2) when near home, which has quite a few buildings around. The timeshift is around 3 seconds so I often hear the same parts of a track repeated following the shift
Once on the open highway it never departs from the superior DAB.
