Thanks for the Feedback @tohis

The Lexus would be more like my Camry Hybrids. I find my brother's Prius a bit gutless with the 1.8 V 2.5 petrol. His Top of The range Prius Itech also has a fairly harsh ride on lower profile tyres. I haven't driven any cars with dual clutch transmissions. A bit scared to test drive too many cars (I usually end up buying something)  :crazy1:

+ Had Friday off as holiday and had a lazy weekend!
- Old house in another city needs £5.5k of work in order to get on the market unexpectedly.
- Current house had a small leak come through the dormer roof.
+ Had emergency house insurance cover through the bank account!
- Insurance company arranged with contractor, but contractor kept failing to call to arrange to turn up.
- Lots of chasing and eventually contractor phoned.
- Contractor turned up later than promised and in the dark for roof work.
- Contractor blamed the ridge line, all needs pulling up apparently.
- Contractor admitted that it could be the felt on the flat dormer roof immediately above the leak, but said he couldn't see properly because it was dark and that he hadn't used a proper light but in his opinion it was the ridge line (that incidentally would cost mega money to fix and wasn't covered by the insurance). Said water "could" be tracking - but there's absolutely no evidence of that - and water is pooling on the felt on the dormer....
- When challenged about not using a light the contract then claimed he had.
- When asked if he could provide a temporary fix in case the weather turned (which is what the insurance cover was) he said that's not what he did....
+ Insurance company agreed with me.
- But they need to launch a full investigation.
- That could take three days.
- And it's 10 days from winter with very changeable wet weather.

Sorry, needed to offload... Really annoyed....

+++ New tyres on the i30, and I'm really happy with them!

Unreliable contractors seem to be a worldwide problem - no wonder I do anything I can do myself rather than use them!

No probs, glad we are here to help.

Indeed. Really annoyed that the insurance uses a small unreliable contractor instead of a national firm that have less to gain by trying to make the job bigger than it is.

My thought was to get the insurance company to arrange to get someone out. If it can be fixed within the cover limit, great. If it can't then at least get them to do a temporary fix and I can get it sorted elsewhere more permanently....

Obviously that whole plan's up a creek without a paddle now - so just hoping I can get it sorted otherwise before the next downpour....

It's only a small leak but I'd hate for it to get worse/get to the electrics....

But 'lad' is a badge of honour and achievement, Cecelia. See what happens every time we call each other girls?

I could point that 'girls' is an insult but 'lads' is a compliment, but I won't bring down the mood in the 'men's shed' with my petty pedantry.  :whistler:

Don't worry fellas, I'm only pulling your respective chains.   :snigger:

And before this thread takes the usual low brow off topic tangent, you know that's not what I meant.   :disapp:

I'm too much of a lady to make those sorts of innuendos.   :snigger:  (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)
