Hi all,
I have recently purchased a new i30 (PD).  I would like to fit front, and possibly rear mudflaps.  Does anyone know if the GD mudflaps will fit the PD model?

Welcome Buzz, with the change in body shape I doubt the GD guards would fit.

I'm going with extremely unlikely. Funny, when we got Firty complete with mudflaps (rather insignificant bits of plastic) they were removed for the full body kit, so consider whether you'd rather go with something more substantial than just flaps.

DYOR on this one but I have order two pairs of these guards from SCA - they're amazingly cheap at $8 a pair! Are moulded so look a tad better on a small hatch than the generic big flap type.

I heard they had a traffic jam in Hobart last week! 

FWIW I wasn't happy with those SCA mudguards - mainly as they wrap around the bottom of the wheel well and dirt and crap will easily gather in the gap, then this would rub against the paint and I've no doubt you've in no time have caused significant paint damage and made a great spot for rust to occur.

Luckily, being an ex boy scout I'd spotted some different universal ones on Repco's site for the princely sum of $3 a pair

I bought them as backups and while they look dull off - they're actually far better suited for the job.

FWIW it's a real turd of a job to mount them using the existing screw holes, I managed it in the end but used up my entire monthly allocation of F-bombs in one sitting.  What seems really simple just isn't as you have to get the wheel off to get proper access - but them the guard has to be positioned so it's level (which is hard to do with the car up on a jack!) and then you're trying to hit these holes precisely while drilling through a bloody stiff mudflap.

I tried to use templates, tracing paper etc - none helped much - ended up just getting lucky via a few pilot holes - didn't have to do any holes in the car's metal etc - just using those existing holes isn't hugely strong but it should be ok providing you don't have the flaps too low.

Thanks for the heads up Nikko. I used z shaped screw drivers to mount the genuine mud flaps and that was bad enough (too lazy to take the wheels off)

Yeah I thought it'd be a 30 min job - and sure if you didn't mind drilling holes in whatever to hold them that'd work - though all the wheel well linings are made of such flimsy stuff that'd be useless as well....so unless you're prepared to drill into metal it's a bit of a pita - those bloody little plastic push clips are sods as well, tried to remove a few but it seemed they'd be ruined in doing so - in the end pretty happy with them and they look like they should handle the rainy times well. Very happy it's done now for the forseeable future.

Yes, those z-screwdrivers would have been handy....but I'd still have had to drill in a few points - and well it was good to get the wheels off to check the disc pads etc - need to actually flush the brakes soon as well as doubt thats ever been done.

But when helping my Dad  I learnt all manner of swear words and swear sentences. There were also the ones that "under NO circumstances are you to ever repeat  that  anywhere near home" .

Wait up you lot, I too had a woggle,    ., until there were a series of hilariously well planned  fires and bombings!  And I  was EVICTED  from the  scumbag scouts.

Ok...I see watcha doing there. Fortunately I never got my 'Buggery' badge, can't say I lasted long in the Scouts, I quickly became aware that all of the guys in it were the one's getting beaten up at school and hence I exited stage left ASAP.
