Hello i30 Owners
Not sure if this topic was posted already.
I'm having problems with my steering wheel controls. The trip and rest button are not working at all, and the volume, mute, mode and the other ones sometimes are working properly sometimes they start to do crazing things. For example, the +Volume button decrease the volume, the mute button is for voice commands.
A friend recently told me that he was facing the same issues, and that I need to replace the clock spring. He also told me that eventually the airbag light will turn on.
So, I wonder if any of you guys had the same problem and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance, really appreciate your help
looking forward to your comments

Your friend is correct. Although airbag may never be affected.
Not a major job to change the c/spring, get some quotes or DIY

Stick with WTY however in a very recent post I suggested cleaning and reseating the harness that plugs into the clockspring.
This is based on some recent experience.
1. I had exchanged a clockspring in one of my i30 to solve controls issuses Vol and cruise, problem solved.
However, that very clockspring has been re-used and has been working without fault for 12 months in another vehicle.
2. Another vehicle 2 weeks a go, vol was going down when I pushed up, removed airbag, cleaned connectors and reseat, problem fixed.
Still awaiting reply from last poster to acknowledge anything on his issue.

Thanks you all for your reply. Will replace the clock spring myself. Let you know soon.
