Hello to everyone!
So I've decided to upgrade my i30 radio from a simple gd-01 to a satnav gd-03. The seller warned me that the device needs decoding before use. Fair enough, there are websites, that can get ones for a reasonable fee. Just when looking for a serial number and model number I'm getting really confused of which what is what?
Can someone help me out? The website is asking for a 8 digit serial number and then for a model number (that one is clear).
Also after reading some other topics about the same radio swapping adventures I'm now concerned if it's going to work properly (after decoding). Are there going to be needed additional wiring adapters and so on?
O, the ALLMIGHTY i30ownersclub website! I humbly beseech your wisdom and advise!

From what has been mentioned to me several times over the different upgrade topics is that the GD-03 unit only come as non satnav, I've never heard of anyone needing decoding either, the unit fits straight in with minor configuration changes.
Satnav units also have a different shape to non-satnav units so if it were possible to acquire a GD-03 with satnav if wont fit in place of your standard unit without the centre console fascia being changed.

The decoding means keying in a PIN for a radio, which is a anti-theft thing (if radio has been disconnected from battery for some time)
Now the difference in shape really worries me. Going to try to fit it now, and see what happens....

My GD-03 unit spent god knows how many weeks or months disconnected from power before it was sent to me, plugged straight in and worked...no code required.
Regarding the shape, it's easy to distinguish just by looking at the front lower lip of the satnav unit compared to the original, GD-03 units also don't have a CD player.

Well I've swapped the radios, and the satnav unit fits just right in it's place. Switched it on and yes - no code required or anything! Was pleasantly surprised! :happydance: But few issues as stated in other topics - steering wheel controls went dead, antena cable doesn't fit (needs adaptor), the USB stick that was plugged in got fried (small power surge, i think). And the main issue is that the climate control unit now doesn't fit :(

Any suggestions if the front fascia of the climate control unit can be changed to suit satnav unit? Or the unit itself needs changing?
Getting really frustrated now, cause it's the 2nd satnav already that causes issues - I've already sent back the Android octacore blah-blah-blah Chinese unit, as it was leaving an ugly gap at the top with the dash.
The bloody car is starting to feel unlucky....

I did say they're a different shape :whistler: not sure of what you can do now :undecided: I would be sending the unit back and getting the correct non satnav version which will in turn correct the other issues as well.
I think even if the adaptor was bought to fit the antenna the navigation still wont work because the vehicles antenna isn't satnav compatible, you would essentially require the complete antenna setup.
I don't agree with the car being unlucky, the car didn't purchase those components :winker:

Just wanted to check for sure. And the satnav unit is going back to seller. The old radio is already fitted back, everything is back as it was. :goodjob2:
Guess will have to just get some non-hyundai satnav radio unit with conversion cabling (Kenwood, Clarion etc) and fit it using a double-din fascia. Maybe it's even a good idea to give the whole car to audio specialist guys to save the hassle.

Thanks for providing the link.
But I've already decided to return the satnav. Got some other things to sort out atm.
Cheers.
