I received my OBD dongle last night and played with it today short of starting Firty. It plugs in neatly and invisibly under the drivers dash and just ... works.

I had a giggle at seeing the KeyGens included.

I chose TorquePro v 1.8.16 (no KeyGen needed) for my Acer Liquid Z220 Android phone and transferred it from my W7 laptop using the freshly downloaded Bluetooth File Transfer app. I also downloaded and installed the very basic ad-free Piston app.

The two are chalk and cheese, Piston being raw readouts of figures from a range of selectable sensors while TorquePro goes all out with grahical dashboard layouts, HUD display and trip, performance and economy calculations and logs.

Let the fun begin!

I've bookmarked this. I'm not that impressed with autolink, might end up going with something like this.   :goodjob:

Tonight came the last of my pre-GST purchases:

:link: Wireless Bluetooth Music Receiver Adapter For 3.5mm Car AUX/Speaker/Headphones | eBay

When mounted on the 3.5mm adapter and then in the AUX port in the centre armrest, it sits just shy of touching the inside of the lid, so a very good, invisible and cheap way to get Bluetooth enabled audio into Firty.

I was happy to try just directly cable connecting using the jack from a phone for listening to audio books on long drives, but the setup didn't result in any sound coming through - I'm guessing an impedance and/or signal level mismatch - hence this purchase, which is even better for being wireless. Now the phone can play audio books wirelessly while charging wirelessly. :happydance:

  Yes, @CraigB

I haven't tried it yet because I'm still catching up on the previous purchase, wiring up the driving lights to the underside of the licence plate bullbar. I see that they will weather better out of direct sunlight, look neater and 'meaner' underneath just above the licence plate than on top of the bar.

I've completed the loom but need to terminate it at suitable points. The earth I'll steal from any nearby structural bolt but the power I need to steal from the pin carrying the 12V to the parking lamps, seen as the top right corner in this image ( thanks to @constipated ). :victory:

ns

This happens to be the pin in the lower inner corner of the connector to the driver's side cluster, which has a deep mating surrounding shroud, so if I aim for this I'll have to channel the connecting wire carefully in and out of this arrangement. Judging by the ridiculously lightweight cable built into the LED units, I don't expect the current drain to unbalance the parkers' intensity.

It may be easier to aim for the relevant relay in the engine bay, if any, but then I'd have to determine which and I don't have the patience. :happydance:

Well, I couldn't sit still, so I went ahead and stripped a generous length of insulation off the positive and negative cores of the speaker wire I was using as the loom and curled the negative around a bolt under its washer holding down the black panel adjacent to the headlamp cluster and the positive jammed into the 12V socket of the cluster connector, with the rest of the stripped core pushed into the space between the body and shroud, then pushed the connector into place.

I turned the stalk to park and I now have three bright spots ahead of Firty, not two. :happydance:

These work well for park lights Gonz :link: 4X WHITE T10 7020 SMD 10 LED W5W WEDGE TAIL SIDE CAR LIGHTS TURN PARKER BULB | eBay the base used provide a more stable fitment, I did try some with the circuit board type flat base but they vibrated loose after some time.
