Hi I recently reversed into a metal pole in my hyundai i30 (2016) hatchback in a car park and cracked the whole of the plastic rear bumper panel and need to replace. I am just wondering if anyone has any instructions on how to do this and also if any one knows the best (cheapest) way of getting hold of a new part that is cheap or a good quality used part. Thanks in advance.

Hi chris_robbo,

Welcome to the club.

I recently hit a kangaroo and did the same to the front bumper. I picked one up in the same colour from a wreckers. I only needed a philillips head screwdriver and a socket set to replace it.

I took lots of photos as I removed it and just reversed the steps.

No spare screws or nuts and bolts at the end.

Good luck.

Take your pick

If the impact was heavy - you may also need the reinforced crash bar that sits behind the bumper.

I did the same with my previous Venga and it dented and split the bumper - about 70 mm split. One of the local chips away people came to my home, heat welded the split, filled the depression and sprayed it for £80. You couldn't see the repair afterwards.

Here is after the repair
