Hi folks,
Would a cheaper brand of cabin filter have any impact on the sound level of the fan inside and possibly air flow? Just wondering if anyone has noticed this when comparing a genuine part vs a Ryco or Wesfil etc.

I doubt it, unless it was blocked it may restrict and affect the fan. I've used RIPCOs charcoaled filtered elements with no issue. Online though is the way to go for value. I find REPCO seem to over inflate the RYCO product to make theirs more attractive.

Just my opinion

Only noticed a difference after changing if full of crap.
Our GD was changed after 6 months,  as  it was full of black crap from Sydney commuting.
Daughter's FD looked like original unit,  :spitty:,
Replaced  both and airflow and fan noise increased.  :goodjob: :goodjob2:

Thanks for that.

Is this the repco product you’re using?

Kind of interesting to notice increased noise and flow. For me , it's not something I could tell in the FD.

Can you please share the part number? I just replaced mine and all the websites showed a 1 part filter.

GD was replaced with Hyundai by my mechanic.
FD was replaced with Wesfill (?) by me.
FD was so full of crap hardly ANY air came out of vents  ( there's pic's somewhere on site)
@GaKu
FD - 2 parts for her 2012 Trophy .
GD - 1 part.

I compared an OEM to Wesfil and K&N, the K&N had much improved airflow over the other two which in turn raised the air noise level, better flow then allowed me to turn the fan to the lowest (1) setting from the usual (2) setting which was then quieter :D

That's cheap when a RYCO is $53 at RIPCO. Are they washable / reusable?

Thought I would try the Repco. Thanks to all for your feedback.

My comments so far with the Repco is the sizing is quite tight and a bit of an effort to clip on the front panel.

First time there was a whistle at higher fan speeds so I took it out and turned it 180 degrees and re-inserted it and all was okay after that.

The previous Wesfil filter had an exact fit, FWIW.  Anyway, let's see how the "carbon active" stuff works

Yes they’re washable in warm soapy water with the K&N Cabin Filter Cleaning Spray Kit which helps to remove stubborn dirt and adds a final perfumed spray oil that’ll trap small particals, similar cleaning process to the K&N Air Filters.

Carbon active test .
1) Turn air to recirculate with fan on highest setting.
2) Drop your worst !!
3) Count how long till air is normal
