GOT PROBLEMS OR ISSUES? => DIESEL => Topic started by: Pikey on April 14, 2018, 09:50:17

Hi i have a 2014 i30 diesel and when i got the car 2 years ago the stop start worked fine after a time it went intermittent and now it does not work at all. I went to the dealer and they just said it was the battery and not covered on warranty and they wanted 240 quid for a new one, so i went to a local garage and had one fitted yesterday but still don't work . Just wondered if anyone has any ideas? Does the new battery need time to fully charge up etc?
Thanks

was the place you went to a Hyundai dealer? Surely step one was test the capacity of the battery if it was suspect but if it was that then how would you start the car?

Hi there thanks for the reply. Yes it was a Hyundai dealer. They had the car overnight to charge it and when it was returned they said it needs a new battery and it was 240 quid. Did not want to pay that amount so got a quote from a local garage for 170 quid so got it done yesterday butstill don't work ughhhhhh

Hard to comment as I don't have this feature but something does not make sense except if the system is designed to shutdown if the battery is below a certain capacity butagain you are starting the car manually each day I presume with no issue. Maybe they tested it and did not want to fault find it until they knew it was new but seems like crap troubleshooting to me. Is this a featre that can be enabled and disabled? Is it really that important it works?
It's under warranty anyway I guess if 2014 model so make them sort it out.
Wasthe battery tested? did it need replacing?

Hi , sorry to hear of your woes :(
Here's an interesting topic detailing the parameters required to ensure the ISG works.

Personally, I hated the feature and had to hit the disable button each time I cranked.

What's the temperature? On my petrol FD, the ISG is disabled unless it's more than 4C
Also, the battery needs to be sufficiently charged, even for a new one.
