Hi all

My first post here (go easy and sorry if i violate all the posting rules..). I have done a lot of forum reading here though over the last few years; what a great site!

I know this topic has been covered a number of times,
namely here: :link: Hyundai i30 SX 2009 (Australia) power steering failure
also here: :link: Problems with Power Steering on i30
and here: :link: POWER STEERING FAILURE 2010 diesel
and others.. but I didn't want to zombie any of them..

Wont Start
Hi there folks

*brief explanation of problem*
Car randomly won't start as key is turned to ignition position - something goes 'click' and all electric power is lost, problem only is remedied by disconnecting battery and reconnecting. Then car operates fine

*detailed explanation of problem*
First happened 6 weeks ago, 2nd time today, garage won't/can't help as fault is intermittent.
As I insert key, mile count is visible. As I turn key, the various lights etc come on. Turn to ignition, and a click is heard, similar to a short but not the same, and then all electricity goes. Starter doesn't even make it to start turning over. No lights, no mile count, zero. As stated above, disconnect/reconnect the...

Rear washer works fine; I can hear the motor. I get no sound when trying to wash the front. I thought they operated from one motor??  Any ideas please?

Testimonials
As the heading says "5 months on".
We've had "i" for 5 months,  11200 km clocked up. Time to rotate tyres & check alignment.

PRO'S
economy,  comfortable & supportive leather seats,  good forward and side vision,  steering is direct with  (dare I say it) good feel,  suspension is well sorted, A/C is damn cold, plenty of poke when tromped

CON'S:
Scratchy finish on 2 interior door handles - replaced.
Mic for phone - picks up road & engine noise 60% of the time  ( possible recall coming )
Rear vision not great, (it's a hatch -still no worse than a SS with rear wing )

DEALER SERVICE :
Organized door handles,  managed to chip a piece (5mm square ) out of paint at top of L/H guard -...

Administrator Comment Split from :link: Upgrade GD-02 to GD-03
Hi everyone,

I've got a 2015 model with the GD-02 fitted (with reverse camera but no sat nav). I'm seeing the GD-03 head units becoming more regularly available now:

That one is $200 + $15 postage. As time goes by (and more people write off their cars) these will become common.

As there's no pinout on the back, I ca...

Suspension Springs
I'm in the UK , and have a 2010 1.6CRDi wagon
Looking at the VIN, it's a 2011 model year version , built in the Czech republic. Using this , I ordered a set of front struts and coil springs (all KYB)
Unfortunately , the coil springs are never going to fit the struts - the diameter is far too small. LOoking at the KYB catalogue , there are two front spring specs - one for Korean-spec cars , another for Czech-spec cars. Looks like I'll need the Korean-spec ones , even though the car was built in the Czech republic. Is this common with these ? I know the Czech plant was new then , has anyone else come across mixing and matching of components ?
