I'm interested in examples of high milege that have been achieved with the original motor ?

To kick it off I've heard of a diesel thats done over 400,000 km

Is this common? anyone done better?

When I worked at Toyota the QA manager said 180 000 km was fair for a 4 cylinder motor before wear and tear started showing

The common saying here in Sweden is that a car is not run in until its passed 200 000km. :crazy1:

I'm hoping mine will hold up well to 280 000km, then I can hopefully switch to a full electric for commuting and get the wife a petrol or hybrid that we can have as a family car (that won't get the same mileage as my car) when she is done with university studies.

As long as were a one car family, the GD Tourer ticks all the boxes and is a good compromise of economy, comfort and utility.

383000 and working on 400000K. Third owner I believe, has service history to about 360000k. Averaging 40k / year.

Definitely highway car and on a lot of dirt roads at high speeds.  Not driving like new but not badly either. Really just needs a refurb of the suspension and a clutch otherwise no leaks, no whines, gearbox smooth and slick and still sub 5's on the Hway.

I doubt a city slicker would be in the same condition though at his distance.

seen sevaral around 400000k for sale now.

Should point out at 377700K turbo blew it's seals and I snapped it up dirt cheap. looked like oil changes went AWOL at owner  No. 2

I just sold my 2008 CRDi with 289.000 km on original engine, clutch and battery. The turbo died at 281.000 km.
My daily commute was 2x25 km

My local garage just serviced a similar with 566.000 km on original engine and clutch, but the clutch bearing needed replacement

I won't disagree! I don't think I would have kept it for 9 years if it had a 202 or a *wretch* 3.8 v6.

I worked with someone who had 400000K on one, not well maintained but that motor was quiet as. Last Commodore I had was VK with Black 202. Then I grew out of the Ford / Holden myth.
