Hello,

I have a problem,
The front left spring was broken on my car i30 1.6crdi 2010
I found another spring with another car (as in the picture below) but I do not know if it's for diesel or gasoline car!  They are not the same! 

I ask for your advice and help

Intriguing problem.
Unless there's a part number on the spring I'm not sure how to answer that.
One of our tech people may have some suggestions.

So how do we help you based on one photo? More information, year model spec of vehicle the spring came from would be of help.

usually there are colour codes on the springs to identify but I'm fairly certain the springs on the front of the diesel have a different rate compared to the petrol as the desel front will be heavier, then there could be a diffrence because between auto and manual,

I have 3 diesels, one manual and the front springs on the manual are different part number to my 2 autos

You could enter your VIN into ILCATS and find the spring fitted originally. There's a fair bit of variation so I have no way to be sure.

Europe  market I found 54630-2R130 for diesel manual both GL , GLS,

54630-2R140 for Auto


 if it had 17" wheels from factory

 54630-2R030 manual
54630-2R040 AUTO

Petrol

Having a look at 2.0L petrol if it's the same spec it's the same springs that is auto for auto , manual for manual and the 17" factory also match the diesel.

That or look for the paint markings if they're still there

On my diesels the autos have

54630-2L040

manual has

54630-2L030

But different markets, different specs quite often

I will try to give more information.
I photographed part of the spring above the wheel.
I see that the spring is broken and these two colors: green and white
What does it mean, can it help?


The spring from the above image is from i30 2009, but it is not known whether it was removed from diesel or gasoline cars.

Yes I would like to know too how to read but I'm thinking this.

Ignore the top white mark, the lower markings I'd use So I have one here with just yellow, I put that link and I reckon that's green yellow.

Hard to tell without the spring removed and clean plus there may be some plastic wrap on the coil too.

@Safari  Im not sure where you 'found' the spring and other car. But it seems more practical to go to a wrecker and buy a complete strut from a good CRDi.
Im assuming that yours broke because of ice conditions that we don't experience. How good is your existing shock absorber?

I gather this was resolved okay. In another life I used to design coil spring for manufacture and these coils pictured above seem not be tapered wire and the helix/spiral is uniform and seems the only determining factor about what ride height you get is the free length.  That is a pretty straight forward listing so I'm assuming the are using same wire size /no taper.
If that wasn't properly resolved I do have access to coil spring info on most stuff ...retired but not locked out yet. ;-)
