Hi All,

I have a 2013 Hyundai I30 Elite (which has a proximity key), my problem is, sometimes when I jump in the car and go to start, the screen displays " Press start button while turning steering".
This came up again today and it took me approx. 5 minutes to get the car to start.
Anyone have any ideas before I take the car to the dealer???

Hi Brent,

Often a reset of the BCM (body control module) will fix odd issues like this. To reset the BCM all you need to do is disconnect the negative terminal of your battery for a minimum of 30 minutes.

it means there is too much pressure on the lock to automatically unlock.

parking on the level, roughly centered steering?

Checked front tyre pressure not too low?

The strange thing is, this has only occurred when the car is on a flat surface.
I don't bump the steering when entering or exiting the car.

I will double check the tyre pressures, but the steering wheel is usually kept centered when I park.
I will also try disconnecting the battery to reset the BCM as suggested.

In all the time I have owned this car, it is only just becoming a problem which occurs once a couple of weeks which has me concerned it could be an issue with the lock pin or some mechanism that drives the lock pin.

I have checked the pressures and reset BCM by disconnecting from battery for approx. 30min.
So far so good...

Damn, sorry to hear that,  hopefully someone else might have soeme ideas.

The motor that drives the pin in and out of the steering column has worn out.
