Success. That pdf was my bible as well :) Start at the bottom and proceed to the top, just like the pdf instructs. Without a single screw.
The radio removal is documented as it should be, so no need for more pictures.
I can attach four pictures of parrot MK6000 installation. Regardless of the parrot model, all you have to do is to install the parrot bluebox.
I have documented the
a) testing of the parrot device
b) the parrot cable installation
c) the foam on the bottom of the bluebox to avoid vibrations
d) the final installation position

Thanks for your help!

You will have to find a replace facial surround from the dealer or aftermarket(I havn't been able to locate one yet.)

If you can find that then the rest is easy.

The only way I could see the pictures was by re-quoting them. Somehow the original thread 'img' url is wrong.

Hi I juts finished fitting a CK3200 to my i30 (2011 model). After much web reasearching I found this thread and reviewed the German forum which was the Only one that offered correct info..

So just to be clear if your i30 does NOT have a small glove box storage unit on the top of the dash but DOES have a square blank plate BEWARE....

DO NOT attempt to prise or level this blank plate out...... It is screwed (from underneath) into the complete radio/aircon fascia trim. Any levering willl simply wreck the dashboard and serve no purpose as it does not need to be removed.

Simply (and yes it is simple) place a flat non sharp blade into the gap where the lowest edge of the fascia trim (Below Air Con Controls) meets with the plastic console (Just above the centre console glovebox/compartment).

Lever gently until you have sufficent space toput your finger tips behind the trim and then firmly pull towards you.

This should release the trim and then continue to move upward repeating along the edges gently removing the fasia by pulling toward you.

Voila you have now removed the trim without damaging the dash - and no need for a scredriver.

The Parrot (Blue Brain) )can be very neatly cable tied / secured in place at the very top of the area (Under where the blank plate sits (atop) the dashboard - it looks like it was made specifically for it.

BTW The Parrot website suggests that a Converter cable is required for use with the 2010 i30. It doesn't. Simply remove the lower 2 iso connectors from the rear of the radio unit and replace with the Parrot ISO connectors - loop the original cables into the Parrot connectors and away you go.

Took approx 2 hours to do - mainly because - I couldn't decide on the best location for the blue box.!!!!

Hope this helps and saves you having to cut and paste german forum entries into Bablefish!!!!!

BTW - I didn't connect the mute wire (single flying lead within the parrot loom) has anybody connected this and did - it cause the radio display to show "MUTE...??"

Yes, I bought a Pioneer 12.301142-08 2 DIN fascia kit and sliced my dashboard :). I have a manual A/C, so I couldn't use the Pioneer 391143-30-BA kit.

Here are some pictures about how I did it. Sorry about the picture quality, Nokia E63 has a lousy camera.  :P

First I masked the fascia plate with tape and draw the cutting lines.
It doesn't show in the picture, but I added more tape to cover the vents and buttons.
I did the cutting with a Dremel rotary tool.

Here's the finished product. Even though I tried to be precise, the edges didn't come out straight.
That's because the plastic started to melt of the heat from the friction. "Like hot knife though butter" comes to mind.

Here's the radio trim from the Pioneer kit. As you can see, it didn't sit straight,
so I had to re-shape the edges before I glued the trim onto the fascia plate.

I had to buy an adapter for the antenna, because Hyundai are using their own strange kind of RF connector.
I got the adapter from the local Hyundai dealer in two days. :)

These are the rest of the connectors behind the i30 radio.

This is how it looked after I had put all back together.
In this picture, the trim isn't glued to the fascia yet, because I didn't have the antenna adapter until later.
I glued the trim with Loctite. Now it's really locked tight. :D

nice guide! and ahhhh...that means that if one changes the headunit, the stock usb/aux port wont work as it is not a standardized cable e.g. usb input at back of headunit, but a multipin connector..

thanks for the review though!

Any reason you went for a single din headunit rather than a double din?

No problem, I hope someone finds my guide useful. :)

I went for a single din head unit, because I had one left over from my previous car (which was a Getz btw ). At first I considered about getting a double din unit, but they're quite expensive even without navigation, so I decided to settle for my old head unit for now.

Wow! - Got the radio out at last (and no damage done yet).

What the photos above do not tell you is that the plastic trim is held in place by lots of white nylon/plastic clips. DO NOT PULL THE TRIM DOWNWARDS AND TOWARDS YOU (as shown in the photos above).

I succeeded finally by pulling one side of the trim SLIGHTLY UPWARDS AND TOWARDS ME (being careful not to break it). You need to be brave if you've never done this before, but I worry that the trim could be broken.  <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_eek.gif" alt="" title="Shocked" />

This tool is useful for removing two of the screws...

The dreaded white clips (also known as the missing links!)...

Good stuff i30'ers... I've now managed to fix my crackly MW reception & intermittent loss of FM... Using this guide I got the radio head out easy peasy! My problems were fixed by using electrical contact cleaner on all the radio head plugs including the aerial input... BUT...

Note... you DONT need the right angled scre-driver, the fascia comes off with those in, they come out easily with an ordinary cross head driver once the fascia is off... Again Thanks guys.... I really must contribute ASAP....
