Hi guys, I bought a 2009 Elantra touring a month ago. More than 260k km but very intact. Right now my only problem is my keyfob that does not work. I don't have a spare so I cannot check if is only the remote that is bad.

I found an aftermarket online and will cost me 40 bucks. I was wondering to know if I could install a generic one that costs 20 CAD.

Cheers

Have you checked/ changed the battery just to rule that out?

Welcome.

Have you got links or pictures for both so we can see what type they are. Both sound very cheap compared to genuine!
