Wont Start
Hello folks,

I've been struggling for some weeks now with a very weird issue, my car will crank but wont start. After inspecting, I've noticed that for the car to start I've to wait until the check engine light comes on it can take up to 1 MUNUTE after switching the ignition, if the engine is hot, it usually takes less time, if done within seconds, it will turn right up, the coolant temperature reading will not be available until the check engine light is lit either. The car runs perfectly fine after it has started.

Glow Plug
We've got a i30 2010 FD.
It is exhibit the issues of one or more failed glow plugs, intermittent labouring start and white smoke,as discussed here :link: 1.6 CRDI Diesel FD - Replace Glow Plugs?. It's not cold weather, and once the car has been used it has to sit around a while before it will do it again.

I'm embarking on testing the glow plugs & associated fuse. I've already checked the battery is OK, and I'm happy with the process of doing the actual test but I 'd just like check a few things before embarking on ripping the engine bay apart, if someone with experience would be kind enough to answer.

Hello to everyone!

    So I've decided to upgrade my i30 radio from a simple gd-01 to a satnav gd-03. The seller warned me that the device needs decoding before use. Fair enough, there are websites, that can get ones for a reasonable fee. Just when looking for a serial number and model number I'm getting really confused of which what is what?
Can someone help me out? The website is asking for a 8 digit serial number and then for a model number (that one is clear). 
    Also after reading some other topics about the same radio swapping adventures I'm now concerned if it's going to work properly (after decoding). Are there going to be needed additional wiring adapters and so on?

Hi folks,
My High and dry i30 had for years has been struggling to get into gear, after looking on good old YouTube I found a fix. I removed the dampener from the master cylinder and guess what's worked, sump plugged now where dampener used to be.  But the retaining clip doesn't seem to be holding so once the hydrolic  pressure builds up the thing pops apart, I've temporary put a zip tie on to hold together, just to get me to a garage if I need to.
I was wondering if anyone could offer advice as to what I've done wrong and point me in the right direction to fix it rather than take to garage. Tia

Road Noise
Absolutely driving me crazy, when I turn right especially on a bumpy road thereís like a crackling noise coming from near side front wheel area. Canít see anything obvious, has anyone else with the new model experienced this. Also getting rattling noise from the rear of car too. I can honestly say I wish Iíd kept my old i30, great car with no problems, this one is a pile of *****.
No noise at all when turning left, only happening when turning right. Car is just over 1 year old, registered on 31 May 17.

Brake Pads
Had our i30 for just over a year now. We have had a few problems but main one is the brakes. I was approaching a round about when I lost all brakes. My foot hit the floor and nothing happened. Wasn't until brakes were pumped they slightly worked. Got my car off the road and 15 minutes later brakes work again. Now I'm worried they will cut out again. I have brake fluid. And brakes don't need changing. Have done a brake fluid change and just wondered if anyone else had come across this problem as hyundai are no use what so ever

Hey guys, so I've got the same problem with my 2009 i30. The left hand side rubber/stuff is cracked and the right hand side is not far behind it.

Has anyone seen these guys? Is this what I'm after?

Problems & Issues
I believe I have seen the same issue. I have a 2017 i30 SR Premium purchased Jan this year.

It happened 3 times the day beore the 1500km checkup and its happened about half a dozen times since. Naturally, it can't be replicated by the service technicians. The first time we suspected it was fuel related but Ive only put 95 in it since then. At the 10,000km it just had they tested again and found nothing of note either.

From my troubleshooting and observations I think its power realted or maybe starter time out related.  When it happens, the multimedia unit doesnt seem to power up and stays dark. The vehicle starts but the engine warning light shows. If I press the start button it usually shuts off the engine and it will...

Door Locking
Hi, I am new to the forum and need some help if possible. The passenger door lock on our mk1 2010 i30 is only working sometimes when unlocking using the fob. I have been told it is the actuator and quoted £220 for the part new and £68 secondhand. Both seem expensive. Does anyone know of a good source for this part and how easy it is to fit yourself. many thanks John

Well here we go..    I guess time has come to start the Stereo install
Looking over the car. it doesn't look like it is going to be a lot of fun..
The main problem I have ATM, Is finding a way from the battery ti the interior to run the "0" gauge power cable.
Looking from either the engine bay or under the dash, there is not a great deal of room, or a grommet to use.

I think everything else look straight forward. The doors will need a mount made up to mount the speakers to them.
Getting the source speaker cables should also be easy to find. Running cables from the front to rear & rear back to front
is quite easy as well. The side panels come off so simple. So on that part it will be pretty easy..
