Hi guys new here

Had my i30 for a year and a half and been really happy with it.  But for the last few months there has been a soft clicking noise whenever i turn the key to on (before ignition).  It doesn't happen all the time but has been happening more frequent recently and the noise for longer. I've yet to take it in to get it checked out.  I just thought to get a better idea from suggestions here.

It seems to occur when the car hasn't been used overnight (I use it in the morning) and doesn't do it so much when it has been used within a few hours.

Interested to see what your thoughts are

Hi mazarian, welcome to the forum :D

My first thought is that the noise is coming from the fuel pump as it's priming.

I also get same sound and seems more noticable first turn of the day.
I have always put it down to the electrics switching on or fuel priming.

To find where noise is from try this if you have another person with you.

Open bonnet and as they turn key  see if you can isolate location.

That will hopefuly pinpoint source of noise

G'Day Marzarian,

 :i30:

Agree with those above,  pump is under rear seat, lift it up and have a listen.
Contact your dealer and report it as something to be checked out at next service.
