Hi everyone. I havent been around for quite a while. You might recall we did our lap of Oz towing our 750kg home built caravan in 201 with our 2008 crdi. Averaged 9.3 L/100km. 18500km for less than $2000.
A front engine seal blew 60km west of Kathryn, sprayed oil on the serp belt and broke it. RACV total vare was a godsend.
While away we melted a connector for the thermo fan in Karratha. No problem really.
Fast track 3 years and we have just built our second caravan. 16' x 7' with full ensuite. Tare weight not known yet, estimated at only 650 kg. Yes with brakes and can be towed with the crdi but it id a semi retro build to match the JBA v6 car.
I'm heavily involved with beyondblue forums as an advisor hence being scarce here.
Our crdi has done 380,000km. Doesnt use oil. We replaced the turbo at 295 000km.
As i said recently, hard starting is in hot weather and commonly fixed with a new fuel filter.
Havent had any cooling issues ever. Seats still are great.
Cheers
