Has anyone had to service/replace these?

I ask as recently when I open the hatch the hatch starts to rise  but stops part way.

To fully open it needs the added help of yours truely to lift up.

Looking at the struts it looks like the part number is......... 81770-A6000 or 81770-A8000
(Not sure re 6000/8000 as on one the number is so faint can't read and other it is been partly rubbed off).

Can they be serviced or is it replacement?

I have to help the rear door in colder days to get the rear door fully up. But as it still stays up, no need for fix. I have not changed them for hyundai, but for few other cars I've done it. Just got new struts and changed them. They are usually quite cheap. Difference between new and old has been remarkable. It is nice to have someone or something to support the rear door when one strut is changed. Rear doors tend to weight a bit.

As you say on cooler days they manage about half way before they need help to rise.

On warmer days struts to finally go to top but at a rather slow rate.

$25 delivered on ebay for the set. I'm sure the same would be offered where you are.

I put a set from ebay on the bonnet of a BA Falcon and they worked well.
