Geez life is hard :snigger: biggest decision I've got to make this week is whether I want 10mm or 20mm spacing between the inside and outside stripes :whistler:

I think I prefer the spacing on the first picture at 10mm :undecided: these cut offs are in gloss and what is getting done on Monday will be satin.

Dammit, Craig, now you've got me agonising over that! Let me know when you finally decide so I can get some sleep.

Grab some sleep Gonz  :D pretty sure I'm gonna go with the first picture, if I was to have a wider centre stripe at 250mm then I think wider spacing would look better though with a smaller bonnet I'm only having the 170mm centre stripe which will match perfectly with the rear Hyundai badge.

I think they don't go far enough, Craig.
They should go all the way up the bonnet and over the car.   :)

The more I look at them the more I keep changing my mind :whistler: now I'm thinking 10mm side stripes with 10mm gap between centre stripe

I think the 20mm stripes. They will hang on better long term I imagine. Plus, they will probably be more noticeable from a distance.

Have you considered an offset to the left/right (if it extends along the entire hood)? I've seen it done on other cars and it looks pretty good.

I don’t mind the offset though I prefer the centre line look as it needs to tie in with the idea I have for the rear badge, plus if you go offset on the roof then it gets confusing with the roof rails.

It suits that car as it’s only the bonnet and the roof is already black, though would still look better if the nose cone strip was completed as it stops a little short above the grill, the lower lip would also benefit from having the stripe continue down there too but might not be possible due to how far to the side the stripe was placed.

Stripes are done, it's come up good and I'm happy with the effect it gives though I'm not 100% happy with the angle of the lines on the rear so I'll be returning it tomorrow to have them rectify a slight run out of about 5mm, it's not something you'll see in the pictures though it's enough for me to notice.

At least it's not far to go and they're more than happy to have another go at it for me, they know I'm a fussy bugger now  they had three attempts at the rear today and each time the angle was slightly different, the lip at the base of the window is awkward with curving in two directions but it's the hand/button slot in the bumper that's the most difficult to do as the memory of the vinyl wants to contract pulling the angle out from the hatch door above.

They'll probably have to hand cut the rear to fix it rather than machine cut which cant compensate for certain aspects.

Stripes look great, @CraigB .
I reckon within a week you wouldn't notice the few mm difference, but you have to be happy with the end result.
They really suit the silver though.
Great to catch up again today.   :)

Thanks Dave :goodjob2:

The problem is me getting through a week without thinking about it :snigger:  I’ll see how they go with it tomorrow, be one of two outcomes...better or worse :whistler:

Thanks Mick, I’ll put some photos up soon once I get home of today’s re-do of the back hatch :)

Ok so the rear has been re-done, I can see how they had so much issues with it after going through the whole process with them today, I have to commend Jason from Tint a Car on putting up with my OCD winging arse though he got it sorted perfectly in the end, very nice and friendly people to deal with :goodjob2:

The aligning issue was due to how they usually do the cars with taking the centre line from the base at the rear though that doesn't work to well on the i30 due to the curved shaped with the lower step and the rear bumper isn't completely true to the rest of the car and was out by about 4mm, once you get to the rear you have to do the opposite and work your way down using the wiper shaft as the centre and once that was reversed it all came true so I'm extremely happy with it now :happydance:

Mid process photo, didn't have to replace the lower part, just the bumper step and hatch where the angle ran out

All finished :)

Thanks :goodjob2: yeah I'll be steering business their way for sure, apparently the rear of the GD i30 is the most difficult car they've ever done and that's after the hundreds of Mustangs, Camaros and other vehicles they've already done/pictured on their Facebook website.

Works really well with your black badges. Chrome stripes might look good on mine, but SWMBO wouldn't be impressed. She likes stripes on a Mustang but not on an i30.  :crazy1:

Black stripes would suit your car Dazz, not chrome :crazy1: tell Trish the Stangs don't come with stripes either, have to be installed aftermarket as well :)

I can remember one of my old Ford Escorts came with the Stripes and the Mini Cooper done from factory, that style phase is coming around again.

Think I'll error on the safe side (no stripes)  :whistler:
