My i30 has a rattle from the front demister vent trim in the centre of the dash closest to the windscreen. Has anyone else had the same rattle & managed to fix it? I was going to try & just put some foam between the trim & the softer part of the dash to see if that fixes it.  if that does not fix it I'll probably try removing the vent trim & insulating with these dash rattle foan kits we have at my work & refitting.

That's a newbie......
I can't recall anyone else complaining of a rattle coming from there... :undecided:

Be sure its not the mirror or glove-box lid.

I've already fixed those rattles. The noise goes away when you put pressure on that trim & reoccurs when you let go of it

How did you fix the rear view mirror rattle, Jason?
My dealer tried with not much success so was gonna order a replacement.  :)

Be sure its not the mirror or glove-box lid.

I had the whole glove-box changed under warranty due to that clicking rattle noise. You can test that
by opening your glove-box while driving, if it stops this is it.

There's another rattle that seems to be coming from behind the centre console just below the radio. Still
haven't figured that out yet.

Annoying the crap out of me.

There's so many rattles on the i30 especially on the Diesel model
as it idles rougher so all rattles magnify. I believe they should have considered that in manufacturing and
put more 'padding' or something.....

Agreed, I think padding, soundproofing & carpets are 3 areas where Hyundai have cut corners, well in my 2008 example anyway, dont know about the new version.

I fixed the mirror by sliding the Mirror off the bracket glued to the windscreen then tightening the screw in the back of the head of the mirror to the arm & also tightening the screw in the head of the mirror arm that slides into the bracket that is glued to the screen. to slide the mirror arm off you need to push the mirror arm with the mirror head forward towards the screen ( it will be on pretty tight)

Thanks Jason... :goodjob:

If Hyundai weren't willing to replace it, I'd have a go at fixing it myself.....
