Final update re interior:

Spoke with Craig Salthouse who apparently is the most senior customer service guy at the Customer (dont) care centre.
Apparently the first bit of trim was replaced as the fault was reported as the car was only one month old and, even though they thought the trim had been sliced, Hyundai gave the benefit of the doubt and replaced it.

This time round, even though they have reviewed the images sent by the dealer, which they admit were not 100% clear, they say that the 3 month old trim has been damaged rather than the premature wear is a manufacturing fault. Hyundai confirm that daily in and out of the car in regular clothing ( jeans, pants, shorts etc) will not cause the wear and conclude that the damage this time has been caused by a large plastic or metal object striking the seat trim. Hyundai could not say what type of plastic or metal object this could be though....but are adamant that the damage isnt premature wear that.

You couldnt make this stuff up.... right?

Ive offered to bring the car in for their inspection, they feel that Altos photos ( the ones that were unclear) are sufficient. Oh, and you cannot speak with a warranty manager as they are not "customer facing"...everything goes through the Customer (dont) care centre.

The head of the customer experience is Paul Jenzen, his email is    <snipped for privacy>  ...thats my next port of call.

I've had issues with wear in the places you've mentioned on previous vehicles, but I'm a big guy with a fat bum. In fact, i used to where holes in my back pockets because I was continually rubbing the seat edge getting in and out of the car.

I've noticed mine starting to wear... from my suspender clips (mentioned in another thread as a potential concern - now confirmed). No way Hyundai will give me the time of day for that! Gonna get car seat covers.

My concern with the trim isn’t so much the fact that it’s worn... all things wear with use. It’s the fact that it’s worn so quickly. If the car was 3 years old then fair enough.
Ive had numerous other cars with clothe and real leather trim and not had this issue. This is the first leather appointed ( leatherette to be posh, vinylish to be realistic).
Secondly my concern is with Hyundai customer care. I’ve had dealings with them twice for two issues that I felt  needed to be escalated. They are polite but other than that pretty hopeless... sticking to the script.... unless you take it further.

My previous experience with Ford, Toyota, Citroen, Peugeot and Mini have all been positive... not problem free, but positive nonetheless . In fact one Citroen I had was such a lemon that the dealer offered to replace the car... no fuss no questions, just good old customer service ... we ended up buying 3 more Citroen’s from the guy.

Despite my frustration I don’t think I’m going to get any further with Hyundai so I think I’ll get the seat repaired by a specialist and put on seat covers.

That's disappointing to hear Beardyboy. As posted before my PD SR seats are starting to wear on bolsters, and Hyundai should respect consumer opinion and be reasonable.
My previous Veloster had leatheresque seats which looked worn but reasonable at 5 years (78K) so Hyundai do have the ability.
My 2003 Alfa Romeo 156 had full leather seats, and they looked immaculate when i got rid of it 10 years later (still amazed the rest of the car lasted that long)

That "leather" interior is just a cheap version knock off, it looks good when new but it just wont last in Oz. The SR would look so much better with a regular cloth interior. The cloth seats in my 19 year old subaru still look in excellent condition after 220000Ks.

is it leather or pleather ?

Pleather or Leatherette, which ever you want to call it.

explains why is not that good then, had that in my Mazda 3 and spent the coin to have it replaced with OEM cloth.
