Today I finally took the risk to replace the traditional instrument cluster with the newer supervision one! I bought it from The swap was plug and play and extremely easy, there are just 8 screws to be removed. The only problems are that the new cluster reads much less km that my car actually has since it has been removed from a newer salvage car and the seat belt warning is not as loud as the old cluster. It is a lot more Ďcleanerí and also has some more modern sound effects compared to the old one. It also has a car service reminder. I donít have any pictures of the swapping process but I have the finished product!
If anyone is interested in the process I can happily explain step by step. I have also ordered a gd-0...

Hi all,

Went to start my i30 CRDi 2012 GD this morning after driving it perfectly yesterday and it wouldn't start (as per video below).

Radio and a/c works and it's not even slightly cold here. Any ideas?

Hi Guys,

Iím getting a little desperate here. I have a VERY low kís for its age diesel i30. 15000 on the clock. The car is obviously out of warranty but has a strange issue. I brought it up here before and thought the problem was fixed with a new battery (and maybe the Computer was reset while doing so).

Turns out, this was not the case. It is a problem 70-80% if the time. It throws no codes and no lights at all. This car does not have a DPF and never did. You can hear it and feel it at all RPMs.

If itís under a gentle load itís most noticeable (driving gently down a long street). Pulse on pulse off pulse on pulse off.

Driving down the road feels like your changing through many gears and for ob...

Hey Guys,

Just got delivery of my 2018 Hyundai i30 SR Premium!! WOOOO!
But the interior and number plate halogen bulbs are a disappointing yellow (which is weird given the rest of the car has LED lights right!?).

I am in no way experienced with ANYTHING electrically or mechanically technical but am hoping to change the number plate light and interior lights to white LED lights. Given my gross incompetence at any of this stuff I was hoping for some advice :)

My 1.4 petrol is making a rattling sound at under 2000 rpm. Could not find anything similar here so here's the video

Have read that this could be many things like lifters (no idea what that means) ,valves, oil level, although this occurs even after a full service. Has anyone encountered this?
Am I up for an expensive repair?

Glow Plug
it's a few days that I have noticed a difficulty of the engine to turn on in the mornings when is cold. Now it the mornings the temperature outside is -3 to +3. I think that maybe the glow plugs of my i30 diesel 2013 start to worm out but I am not sure. The battery of the car is one year old and is good condition. Also the car's engine turn on easily in the afternoon. Have you experience this problem and have u ever changed glow plugs?

Also it does not appear any orange glow plug icon  on the screen that stays for some seconds to be sure for the problem.

I will appreciate your experience in this issue - problem.

Door Locking
I recently discovered on my 8 month old I30 that when using the key to lock the doors it only locks the drivers door. Assuming a faulty central locking mechanism, I took it in for warranty repair, only to be told that this is how all i30's work. The mechanics were baffled and replaced the mechanism to no avail. They checked online and came up with nothing. Checking other new i30's they found they all works the same way. Obviously a design flaw in the new model I am told, but people need to be aware. If your remote key fails, you have no way to secure the car manually.
Unless someone out ther knows differently.

Hi all!
I have had my i30 for 4 months now and have done 4K miles in it (total mileage now 18000).
It had a full check by a independent technician when I brought it and a service in late December that again states clutch was okay.
Since I have owned the car I personally have found the car when pulling away would judder a lot like I wasnít giving the car enough gas, and occasionally when in 2,3 or 4th gear it would over Rev like it hadnít engaged the gear correctly.
This morning I was unable to change from 2nd to 3rd and had to pull over to give the car a moment to allow me to engage a new gear.
Also the over reving was near enough constant.

I spoke to Hyundai customers services, they stated that the clutc...

Brake Pads
I've posted on this topic before and was wondering what mileage people are getting from their pads and rotors. A couple UK readers claimed about 200,000 miles from both pads and rotors (how I wish)!

My i30 has about 23 000 km on the clock and the service guys tell me the brakes are 80% worn and will need attention soon. The pads look about 50% worn whilst the rotors appear almost unmarked with a barely discernible ridge.

What mileage have other drivers got from their pads and rotors?
