I have a problem with my hyundai i30 1.4 2009 LPG.Sometimes when I start the car the engine runs really slow like it's going to turn off and the check engine light turns on all the time until the car turns off itself without me doing anything. When I told this to my mechanic he suggested that I push the accelerator pedal at the moment and help the engine,so I did that and when I press the pedal at the same moment the car turns off.
After that when I start the car again the engine starts like nothing has happened.
So,in the winter this has happened 1 or 2 times a month and now it happens nearly every day.
Does anyone has any experience with this type of problem?

Hi. I have a 2011 i30 Diesel Estate CRDI wirh 100,000 miles on the clock.  It's an ex police car and has full service history  (most parts replaced!). It drives like new. I've nituced a strange problem. It has a heavy duty battery fitted. When the car has been left for two days it cranks over fast and starts straight away. I can drive 50 miles on the motorway pull up at McDonald's with engine off but the ignition on for 30 minutes listening to the radio and using the electric window once. When I go to start the car the dashboard dins and the car cranks slow but starts. Checked the battery and it kicks out 12.6 volts and 14.7 while charging at tickover. Temperature gauge only goes to 80c.

I'm thinking battery drain or faulty batt...

Hi everyone! This is my first post - excited to be owning a i30 soon!

Im looking to buy my first Hyundai car.. Ive driven a friends i30 diesel and it seemed like a really good car.

2013 i30 Active tourer wagon turbo diesel, 26000 km on the clock and an ex-government car, auto (From what I've read it seems like you get better fuel efficiency from the manual.. but I like auto's cos I live in the city) BUT I would have to get it delivered from interstate.. so.. Im thinking to get a mechanic to go and look at it.. is there anything that the mechanic should be specifically looking out for when it comes to the inspection?

Also.. Im looking at a 2012 i30 SLX Auto with 100000km on the clock for $11000.. am I paranoi...

My 2009 Hatch is just coming up to 100,000klms and a while back, to resolve a clunking noise, the steering bush was replaced. It’s been fine since.
Recently though, on a drive back from Brisbane I noticed a very slight tendency for the steering to sort of “tug” slightly in the straight ahead position. This is actually pretty hard to describe.

It’s only noticeable (so far) in excess of about 90 kph.

So, picture a straight road. No real need to move the steering wheel but suddenly there’ll be a very slight but clearly obvious, tug on the wheel. We’re not talking about pulling the car off line here but there IS a slightly discernible shift in the wheel under your hands.
You could almost suggest it is just norm...

Hi new to the forum. This is my first car bought back in September of 2016 with 135,000km on it got it check by racv all good and bought it. Some months later i started to hear a clunk/knock when taking off and slowing down and turning the wheel. It seems to be louder with warm days. Got it checked out by my independent and all was okay underneath. Fuel Economy
Parked up Mr's petrol GD while we were away, disconnected the battery.
Returned 2-months later, reconnected battery but ever since the DTE is way out.
Thought it might learn after a few tank fills but it hasn't got any smarter.
She used to show 800 to 830 at a fill, now it's 600.
Was showing 3-bars yesterday but only 88k DTE ???? then the yellow fuel light came on. Filled it up, took 40L to have fuel overflowing.
Thought they had a 50L tank so there would have been at least 10L left which would make the 3-bars correct.
The economy gauge is reading OK at around 5 to 6 L per 100, just the DTE has lost the plot.

Hi All,

Just noticed a little clutch slip today ... will be in need of a clutch soon. Has done 280,000km so reasonably happy with the life. Wondering if anyone has recommendations on which brand to go for. I am leaning towards either original or Exedy which is available. Am in NZ so suspect what is available in Australia will be available here.

My car went in for a service recently and it started smelling pretty oily inside the cabin.  I think I've tracked it down to the car being overfilled. The garage has sorted that out, but I am still left with an oily smell, particularly after a run.

My question is, this overfilled oil has gone somewhere, so needs removing, cleaning, whatever. Any hints where to look?

The car is a i30 (of course) 1.6 CRDi 128bhp model, 2012.

The garage told me the oil level can go high due to the exhaust regeneration cycle? Dunno about the oil, but smells like bullshit to me.
