Have you just had the diesel fuel filter replaced?

There are several threads that I know of here where the same symptoms that you have described have been experienced when the filter has become blocked (due to diesel bug) or the when the fuel filter housing has become cracked, causing an air leak.

A search here should be helpful to you.

Is it a common issue the Hyundai should fix with out warranty?

I would expect the service provider to check it for you and if related to the fuel filter then fixed foc.

Ps
Just check all hoses are tight and the air filter is sitting correctly in its box, top is seated correctly and hoses all connected.

OEM filter or third party? I had limp modes when I used cheap filter. Changed to OEM and it fixed the problem. Some have also changed the filter which is in the tank in the fuel pump assembly.

If you can, read the fault codes when the limp mode is on. Should give some info why the limp mode is on...

Thanks, Phil.  That is what I thought.

I have replaced the in-tank filter in my Getz.

Oops. Sorry. I meant the PUMP which is inside the pump assembly. There is some sort of plastic casing in the assembly, which is around the actual pump. I've seen pics in where dieselbug had made inside of the assembly full of black sludge. New pump and cleaning of the housing fixed the issue. But before doing anything get the codes out when in limp mode. Filter etc. help only if the issue is with fuel pressure.

I think we recently established that if the wrong filter element is used in the diesel ( it changed in late 2008?) That it can cause this too...
