Hello Friends,

I have a small question with respect to i30, how do I lock the behind door from driver seat controls, My child sits in the back and some times opens the door, even though I have pressed the lock button which is next to my window moving buttons, it only locks the windows movement in the rear seat but doors still can be opened in the back.

Please suggest how can I lock the doors as well ?

Thanks
Richi

On my car, which is now ancient, I have a switch on the inside edge of the rear door near to the striker plate which disables the internal latch and therefor renders the door safe against naughty children  :P

Just in case the ecu has stopped you from being able to do it through the modern techi stuff.

Good luck   :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

You haven't mentioned i you have the old FD or newer GD version, however in my FD 2008 there's a bottom to lock all doors (top left). In the GD I think it's possible to activate auto lock via the menu in the dash.

Another possibility is to activate the child lock mechanism in the rear doors as I also believe is the one Asa refers to.

As asa says on the rear door  insert there is a small lever which you move  to activate the rear door locking function. This prevents opening the door internally.

Check out handbook for explanation.

Thanks all for your replies. Mine is i30 premium 2012 model.

I will check today to find the rear door lock as shown my you in picture and let you know.

By the way, I see on the dash board , there is a lock button with a blue light. But when my child tries to open the door, he is not able to open in first try but if he tries couple of times, the blue light of lock button on my dash board starts blinking and then I see door gets opened on next try of my child.

Hi All,

I checked again in the rear door and could not find any button so it should be new models with out buttons in the rear seat.

But I tried again to lock from my dash board and asked my friend to open the door in the back but he could not open it.

Its really strange, last time it opened even though the lock was in place but yesterday it din't open. Wonder if its some error in the software or ?

One more thing, I had serviced my car recently and they mentioned to update the software revision. May be that has improved something?

That is interesting. I thought all 4 door cars had that manual child lock switch in the rear door. I must go down and check our two cars.

I'm back.. Yes, both our 2014 cars have them, but they are different now, just operated by the twist of a key in a slot in the internal face of the back door.

Pretty sure it would be part of the ADR.

Pretty sure it would be part of the ADR.

It would be easy to overlook it with the new simpler design. Shows how long since we've used it.

My 2012 gd has child lock facility on the rear doors.

Open the door, locate the lock unit and just below it you will see a small round hole.
Look inside the hole and you will see a black button.
Put a small screw driver or flat head thing in to turn per the visual stamped image to activate child lock.

Different set up to fd model

Part of the Pre-delivery inspection is to check operation of child safety door locks.
