Hi All. I own the 3dr Hatch 2013 i30. Car has been great ever since i purchased last year... Until now..
I am hearing a strange sound when the car is de-accelerating between 1500-2500 rpm. The sound disappears when i engage my clutch. I can only hear it at low speeds, 60km/h or lower. The air conditioning is turned off, doesn't matter either way. I do believe it has something to do with the clutch/gearbox/flywheel area. It sounds like a sacatta or similar noise. Car only has 48,240km on the clock. Gear changes are really smooth.

I hope that it is nothing major, however i know the people in this forum are knowledgeable and might have some answers. Hopefully you can help :). Sorry if i respond slowly.

What gear is the car in when you're hearing this?

@CraigB the car can be in 2nd or 3rd. Anything higher I don't really notice.

No strange vibrations or anything else? I'm thinking it might be induction noise if only while decelerating under 2nd or 3rd gear load :undecided: very hard to pin point without actually hearing or driving it.

Nope. No vibrations or anything. Its like a really quick ticking noise. Hard to explain. Might need to take a mechanic in the car and get him to listen.

They are a very quite car so it's possible at low speeds to even hear slight injector noise, I agree you would be better asking your local service centre to take a look.

Hard to distinguish where the noise is coming from. Maybe from the motor.. maybe inside the clutch. As I mentioned i think it would be best to go to the local dealer. Plus car is still under manufacturer warranty.

If you're hearing ticking I doubt it is anywhere inside the engine or trans. Check all wheels for anything picked up, Sticks etc.

@Phil №❶ . Nah no stick or anything like that.

As mentioned, the sound disappears when i engage my clutch. Also the sound disappears when I accelerate. Only when slowing down between 2500-1500rpm does the sound appear.
