Some people are buying utes they don't need and are sacrificing comfort and features for so-called practicality.

For the same money, you can get a much more pleasant (to ride in) and well equipped sedan or hatch that will also be more economical.

Who the hell is buying all the Toyota Westinghouse?! Sorry I mean Corolla? They're such terrible cars! We had one as a rental on our trip to NZ and yeah the CVT worked well with the 1.8, but other than that it was underwhelming to drive and felt cheap.

Why you'd by a Corolla over an i30, I have no idea... Reliability?

When we were looking at the Santa Fe we were looking at Utes. The ride quality and comfort level of these were terrible. The Santa Fe was far more practical and comfortable to deal with urban life.

Buy a ute if you need one, but they are overly impractical. I have even stopped choosing utes for our fleet vehicles at work. Being an Electrical contractor a small VW caddy is far more practical
