I can confirm.

I have hankook 15" with 38.000km driven with them so they are noisy as tyres.
I will put the winter tyres in 1 month as temp goes from 2 to 12

They're only noisy on course bitumen which I find is similar to most tyres.

Great  to have them in forum.

By the way any experience of others and maybe the

best way and place to put extra rubbers is still open for discussion

to maximize the benefits.

By the way I mention again  that I am very very pleased with the oil and additive
that I added to my car a month ago. (Liqui moly 4600 oil and ceramic additive to  oil from the same company)
After 1000km the engine is working much smoother, with less diesel noise (almost no noise) and  seem to work better than using  the oil from  the dealer here!
I used it for the first time. I have also a citroen c3 diesel that is 9 months  car and euro 6 diesel in engine and is 2-3 time more noticeable the engine noise from inside and outside of car than i30's diesel 1.4

Extra info about the rubbers.

I have removed the rubbers from bonnet.

The road noise etc is almost the same  with or without.

I have noticed that the consuption when I was having the extra rubbers in bonnet was increased alot!
Maybe because the engine was more warm and hot than normal? I have removed teh rubbers in this place
and I have notice improvement in consuption. So by cooling the engine is working better and more efficient?

Regards!

Hmm, I think this is definatly worth a try, low cost and potentially high rewards. Wind noise started to bug me more when I got the worst of the tyre noise out.

My Hankook ventus prime 2s make an awful noise now that they are worn to the markers. Just waiting for the forecast to go subzero before switching over to my studded tires. Next season I can buy some good summer tires!

One extra tip about this cheap way to reduce road noise and to be more successful.

Need to add some insulation (even some plastic sticker will do the job to cover any hole in place I show in image).
When someone open the front 2 doors, there is a black insullator  vertical shape like rubber to the back of the  doors.

Need to add there some more insulation even  a plastic sticker not to have this vertical insulation with empty space or moving :)

One final tip is to reduce tyre pressure a little bit. For example in my car normal min pressure  is 220psi according to the manual. and even 210 psi make the  car more quiet. I had my tyres 240psi in pressure and ride was more noisy.

Regards!

I had a short trip 250km in distance today and I can say I am very happy.
The car consuption is less than before and after my 4rth year service
and also with less road noise after installing rubbers.

In the trip I had an average consuption of 5.2lt /100km that is lower than previous trips and I was running quite fast  90-170 in high way etc.
The trip had 200km of highway 10km in city and 40km of non high way  village road.

No reduction in noise recorded so far with  the additional rubber seals I bought.  :disapp:

Maybe it's because I'm a lazy sod and they are still on my printer in the office.  :crazy1:

Problem is I need to give the car a very good wash and dry before I do it and then watch the video to see what goes  where. Plus, I need  to do some before sound testing on a selected road with a suitable phone app.  :undecided:

Testing the noise pre mod is really a two person job. I will try and do that 2moro. That will give me a point of reference.

On a side note, if you can, try get a decibel measuring app on your phone and see what the pre-rubber noise levels are in a couple of spots in the car. Might be helpful...

Yep that is the plan as per post before yours. My hearing is very average so an app will be a lot better measure than my ears.  :goodjob2:

I don't get it. How do you expect them to reduce road noise?

Ok, so here's my feedback on the seals.

I added another ring of rubber seals around the rear hatch as shown on the how to video using D shaped rubbers. There is only currently the one seal on the rear hatch.

I tried to do the doors with P and Z rubbers, but they didn't really want to sit right due to various ridges on the door edges resulting from the way the doors were manufactured. After thoroughly inspecting the existing seals on the front and back doors of the PD and the wife's GD Tourer, I can't really see the need or benefit of a third seal. There is a seal on the door and a seal on the frame making an effective double seal and the way they are done the B pillar is sealed flush with rubber.

So at this stage I've aborted doing the doors. I still have the remaining rubber if I decided to have another try. They were pretty cheap so not going to stress.

For the record, I downloaded a sound meter app for my Android phone and tested the road noise on course bitumen near my friends house at 100 kph on a dry sunny day and it topped out at 81db (on smooth bitumen it was much less as wind and engine noise are very subdued at that speed in the PD SR)

Driving on the same course bitumen today, it sounded just as loud although I haven't tested it with the sound meter since adding an extra seal to the hatch.

Thanks for being the guinea pig Dazz. I noticed the double seal around the doors myself, didn't think we could do much better than that. The tail gate is too far for the front row to notice much difference, so I'll probably won't worry about that either.
