Hi mate, thanks for that. I am guessing they are quieter?

Despite trying, I can't say I've noticed. They certainly aren't noisier than the OEMs. Kicking myself for not doing one of Alan's sound level tests before and after the tyres were replaced.

One word of warning to anyone considering this tyre - make sure you're getting the Evo model as Bridgestone have rather helpfully decided not to brand their new tyre sidewall any differently to the lower rated older T001 model.

Thanks for that. I'm going to add more rubber seals around the doors and hatch. Must do a before and after noise test when I do that.

Finally got round to buying 2 new tyres for the car.

The ns front was just on the twi so 1.6mm.
The os front was slightly deeper at just under 2mm.

Over past weeks i researched and was all set to replace with the hankooks which came with the car.

However, while at my local indy garage i used prior to buying my i30's they are the local stockists fora brand called Davanti.

Checking out their tyres they show
Fuel economy as C rated
Wet weather handling as A rated
Noise as 68db

So bought and now on.

Must say they hold well in the wet and as i tend to drive the same route the noise does seem to be lower

Time will tell if quality is good as i got 21k miles from the hankook's!

Interesting link Alan. For the sort of driving Lester does (not much) they should be fine.   :goodjob:

They sound fine.

Then only point I would make is that robotic manufacture will maintain a consistent level of quality.
But quality level is determined by R&D firstly and secondly by the standard of the components used in manufacture.

For the miles i do each year, circa 5k, and price, £53 per tyre fitted, balance and new value, they performed well in the rain and are quieter than the hankook i had on.

Once they have done a few thousand miles i'll report back....

Very interesting and supportive article..... thanks alan
