PD i30 SR Premium in Sydney

Hey guys
Thought i would introduce myself.
Just picked up my white SR Premium yesterday from Orange and drove it the 3 1/2 hours home which was good fun.
Very happy with the first impressions. Love all the equipment and it drives nicely.
Got home and threw in n a k&n air filter but that will be the only model for a while ( if you can even call that a mod).
Iv come from a 300rwkw XR6T, a 200fwkw xr5 turbo focus and a heavily modified FG XR8 so this has been a different purchase but I'm enjoying it so far.

Welcome. Is that skyline at Bathurst in the first picture? Nice!

In hindsight I could have easily gone a white one. They look great in the Premium with the black glass roof.

My SR successfully replaced a 2014 Calais V but your previous had a bit more grunt than that. They are pretty good on fuel and suit a wider variety of driving situations than some of your previous cars IMHO.

Yep that first ones at Skyline Dazzler. Had to stop for a pic on the way home.
I agree I think it is a better balance everything.
I love the white, I was thinking about going blue but glad I didn't once i got this.

I got my wheels sprayed black with 2 pack satin paint. Your white one would look nice with black wheels...

Im tossing up whether to go down the same path actually.
While i was waiting for my car and looking around on the forum i did come across your car and noticed the black wheels. It does look good.
As you can see i painted the wheels on my Focus and thought they looked quite good.
Window tint will be done this week so that will go nicely with it

Cool! Yeah tint looks extra nice on white cars.. I curbed a wheel and a mate owed me a few favours so for the cost of the paint it ended up being a no brainer..

I agree with the dark tint on a white car, always looks quite good

I forgot to mention how much i got the car for.
I was looking around in Sydney but actually bought it from Hyundai in Orange. It was a demo but with 49km on it and managed to get it for 31k driveaway which i thought for a Premium was quite good.

That's was a steal! I paid that for my non-premium on 30/06/2017.

Congrats on the purchase.. And well done for putting on the K&N filter. They do fit quite nicely on the original intake tube.
And the extra sound you get makes it worthwhile as well.. It should not impact fuel economy either. I'm seeing no difference with mine.

Any other plans for the car down the track??

I thought it was quite a good deal .
They were asking 32 so just offered 31and they took it.

Apart from tinting and wrapping the small white section between the sunroof and spoiler I don't have much planned immediately.
I wouldn't mind a little more exhaust noise but nothing over the top. I hsbrnt had s good look underneath as yet but I figured replacing a muffler with resonators would be an option.

I would probably get a rest section made up so it is just a direct replacement and I can swap it back to stock if need be

How do the DCTs handle extra power and torque?

With all my other cars iv done shocks,springs (or coilovers) and swaybars but I'm a little over that tbh

Yeah the k&n filter is a no-brainer really. Direct replacement and fits nicely, does a good job and adds some induction noise so its win win

The problem with Dealers is they charge twice the price and have it installed at the same place we do it privately, and Dealers are bound to regulations so can only request darkest legal which is 35%.

Yeah I didn't think about it when they offered it. I knew I could've got it done elsewhere for cheaper and better. I was just a little too excited haha

Found a possible wheel option.....i quite like the look of them on it.

Actually a neighbouring warehouse who sell cars had a wheel repair guy painting a set of wheels black today.

I did a very rough photoshop of my wheels on your car. A respray is probably the cheapest and easiest option and you sort of keep the factory look. I went with satin two pack paint but your options are endless. Matt, satin, gloss, metallic... I went the satin I don't think it shows the dirt, brake dust or any blemishes as much. seems to have been a great choice so far. Like i said in the spray thread I'm not usually a big fan of the black wheel look, but with the black centre caps and mostly black trim on the SR works really well with the Red the white and probably other colours too.

I think that will be the way i go.
My preference is gloss black as iv had it done before.
Will have to organise it
