Finally got around to getting a second key for my i30. Crazy prices dealers want to extort of $250 for a bare key or $450 for a completed remote I had a clone for $89

Normally $99 or complete flip key remote $169 ( normally $189)

New Business located Grand Plaza Dr, Browns Plains

So, is the $99 one just a transponder key without the remote central locking?

Good deal if that's what it is.

I have a question. I wonder if the transponder only key is waterproof. ie will getting wet affect its operation.

I paid $89 and  I don't think water would affect it as the id chip should be fully encapsulated. Alarm will trigger if locked by remote, unlocked with this key but will reset.

Nah. It's all good. Just considering options.

I surf and since about 2000, I've had cars with remotes. Always just get a blank, non transponder key cut and hang it around my neck after locking the car with the ignition key hidden somewhere inside.
