Caloundra Beachfest 2018 (Cars not Surf) Updated with more photos.

Might sound like something for surfers but this is actually a car show.

Just a random selection of pics while wandering between the several hundred cars on display.

The area closed of is four blocks of Caloundra's maim street, three cross streets, both sides of it plus a parallel street along the Pumicestone Passage AND a beachside car park at one end of that which alone holds about 50 cars.

Thanks Trev. Nice selection. Ash and Dave are moving back to the Sunshine Coast they were missing their friends and decided Caloundra is nicer than Toowoomba. Dave's already scored a job in the area. Why I say that is I think they are probably at that car show!

I followed a mint condition 1979 Corvette Stingray for about 40 kms on some nice winding roads between Deloraine and Sheffield via Mole Creek yesterday.

I know it was a '79 because I did a rego check when i got home.

Yeah. I was reading about that.

Amazing how many show cars there are around. And this is just in S E Qld. They happen all over the country regularly.

Not that model. That was a 200B. Although it's 2 litre engine would fit nicely in a Datsun 1600.

With a few mods to the engine mounts.

Or the addition of a slight bulge in the bonnet.

In fact that 2 litre could be modified up to about 2.4 litres and even found its way into 1200s and 120Ys.

With some SERIOUS mods to the firewall.

though it served it's purpose and with my driving style in the early years it's lasted longer than the 302 XB wagon I bought at the same time and managed to kill in one day

I had a 180B as a second car for a short time (just to get to and from work) They always reckoned the 200B was a 180B with 20 more mistakes.

I'd agree with that, the 200B had all the extra anti pollution crud with a cheaper electrical system, every week there was another issue with it

I should have kept the HQ 1 tonner though the wife and son weren't happy to sit in the tray
